220 gallon tank with ich

Hi all, I got a ich outbreak in my tank and it affected almost all of my live stock!!! Please advise on what I can do to them these precious little fishes!!!!

Hi bro, off the chiller if u have to raise tank temperature n also add fresh water to reduce the salinity level.

if u have a fish only setup - Hyposalinity

Reef setup - Remove fish to QT, leave display tank fishless for a period of time so that those parasites have no fish to host and let the Ich cycle dies of from tank..

Reef safe medication wont work... unless copper threatment (not reef safe)

But u can try Octozin, drop sg to 1.017 (slowly), add octozin feed food stuff with garlic to boost immunity..

But just to take note, not all corals or invert are able to take 1.017 sg level..

There is a new product in the market call " Medic" from polyplab which is effective against ich, maybe you can try that too. Most importantly, it;s reef safe .

personally experience tell me that Octozin only work well if you can bring the salinity down to really low i.e 1.18 ect.. Medic can be found in madpetz or Fish channel.

My sg is at 1.022 and my temperature is at 30dc... I removed all my fishes from the tank and added seachem cupramine to the qt.. It's been 3 days and yet ich is still around... Am at a loss now.... =(

Hyposalinity treatment for fishes => reduce specific gravity to 1.008 and hold it there (for up to 3 months, I think). Works for me. You can read online to confirm.

Are your fishes still eating? If you have cupramine and they are still feeding, give it a few days to let the copper to take effect. Do rem to test your copper level frequently.

Polyp Lab Medic is probably effective for early stage minor ich outbreak where you see only a few white spots on the fishes..

it can only kill free swimming parasites so i guess it can only help to prevent the ich parasites from multiplying after they dropped off from the fishes' body.

It didn't work for me when my AT had a serious ich problem ... i used tripple dosage of 10 scopes 2 times a day for my 150gal tank but the AT still did not make it...

That y u need to act fast. Even if u use copper or hypo, it takes time as the ones on the body of the fish will not be killed.
