Gouldian
Hi guys, Just wanted to share about this Photosynthetic Gorgonia that suffer some tissue damaged when it was given to me, pic taken in March 2012: Here's an recent pic of it taken on June 2012: During this period, I did nothing except keep the parameters stable and manually remove any hair algae that got caught on the branches when I do my tank maintenance. Terryz_
Photosynthetic ones are easier to recover compared to Nps ones.. But still a great documentation.. the removing of algae is a very good move to help the gorg recover. Quote Member of:

Terryz_
One tell tale sign is that it is brown.. LOL.. The colored one are not photosynthetic... Other than some species from carribean, which are purple but photosynthetic... Quote Member of:
Gouldian
great job! i did not know there're photosynthetic types. how do you tell the diff? one question: why does it appear purplish in the original photo and brownish in the latest? wat'r yr tank parameters? As mentioned by Terryz, photosynthetic one comes with brown hues whereas the non-photosynthetic ones comes in contrasting / vibrant colors. 1st photos taken without MH thus blueish. Good to know it's photosynthetic. 2 left at IwArna / JoeP , if you are interested. Adds diversity to any reef tank. Cheers, Mike.

wearenotmonkey
Can simply use tap water to wash away algae from sps?
