SRC Member kaykay Posted July 12, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 12, 2012 I think what peacemaker did was to coat the PVC T-joint with sand. It then looked natural.

SRC Member kaykay Posted July 13, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 13, 2012 Longnose Hawkfish doing upside down handstand. For 5 hours!! He remained stationary like this for 5 solid hours! Haha. We all thought he's dead shortly after adding into tank. So when I tried to pick up the corpse, he made a dash away! Hahaha..

SRC Member kaykay Posted July 13, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 13, 2012 is that aquawasher? Yes. 2 aquawashers. 12 blue + 8 white chips. Kinda regret now as the hue looks too purplish. Should have stuck to 50:50.

All but one of the zoas frags are from Cedric. Most amazing colors. The bigger rock of multi-color zoas is from AM shipment 3 weeks ago. Cheap rock. But I like. Bring your frag tools along too. Lol.. Haha, wait till it grows. Nothing special, just a hammer and a nail punch for me. Hit a few dots along the line you want to make. Keep hitting on the dots sequentially hard. If you need a nice flat line, i slowly saw with a hacksaw. That's what I do, not sure if others using same method

I think the 60% blue LEDs ratio made the tank purplish on photos. With the naked eyes it's actually not so purplish tho.

No experience on Bridgelux led but if you use the same ratio with CREE royal blue & neutral white, It will be tinted blue/bluish instead of purplish ! Quote Knowing is not enough; we must apply. SRC Member kaykay Posted July 14, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 14, 2012 DIY Project UAS - update 14.07.12 It's been 7 days since I ran the DIY LEDs (4red + 1blue) on the ATS. Results are more than satisfactory. Recap of the LEDs. 7 days of nutrient extraction. I am a very happy reefer today.

BTW is it enough to remove all of the waste in yr tank just by using ATS? you have no more bio filtration?
SRC Member MadScientist Posted July 14, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted July 14, 2012 your led is still too focused
SRC Member kaykay Posted July 14, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 14, 2012 All my other filtration is still running. Skimmer is running too. Only when I see macro algae blooming in this ATS, and when nitrates are undetectable, then I'll consider this project stable enough to decomm the skimmer. In the meanwhile, nitrates are still high at 40ppm. Used to be at 60-80ppm range though.
SRC Member kaykay Posted July 14, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 14, 2012 your led is still too focused Yup I know too. Have already moved the led 1" further from the screen. If by next 2 weeks I still see the burnt centers, I'll fabricate another box, where the algae screen is moved even further away from the tank wall from the inside.
