Haha this is not msn, the reply will not be so fast. Just want to ask how old is your mh bulb? normally we change bulb every 1 yr depending on the number of hrs. If keeping SPS, Mh confirm no problem, most of the time if u change your bulb every 1 yr the problem with uncolour SPS is due to water parameter and not light.

Learning here as well. When you say 1ppm every day, you meant 1ppm of CaCO3? If the alkalinity conversion I found online is correct, that seems to equate to 0.02 meq/l or 0.056 dKH. Seems like a really small fluctuation.

Suppose you measure KH today is 9.6

Tomorrow your KH measurement is 10.6 or 8.6 ,(At about same time)

then your SPS gone very soon within a few days of this up and down.

6.5 * 2 * 2 + 3.75 * 1.5 *1.5,(Decomn on 14/9/08)
4*2*2 + 2.5*1.25*1.25 (Decomn on 1/8/09)
5*2*2 (Fully LED light system, 140 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm)
2.5*2*2(Fully LED Light System,96 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm)

i would suggest you to lower your no3 and PO4 first.. when you manage to lower these and maintain it at low level for a period of time .. i think your SPS will colour up...

please note that for SPS to colour up takes some time.. and for it to brown 1 or 2 days is enough...

next is your sources of SPS... if you got it brown from LSF and you expect it to colour it up within 1 or 2 months with your high NO3 and PO4 ... it will be very hard ...

Even for me i cant keep certain colour of SPS except corals that is green these does very well in my tank..

mengyang as you mention that MH no problem with sps as it more due to water parameter ?

i see ....what type of salt is better ? do we need to over night it ?

Hmmm depend on your budget, every salt have their pros and cons, For me I go for the cheapest, the salt Iwarna bring in from CHina is serving me well.

Yup for salt best to leave it overnight, so that the ph is abjusted to close to above 8.

Hmmm their parameter is on the high side, but I am changing only 1 pail every week, it is ok for my big tank.
