Shallow reef tank

Recommended Posts

This is not a common design, neither on the net nor in the factories...

went to many for quote, only CR rather adventurous took up the offer on the warranty..

ME (after tank is build) : "So what do u think of my tank? nth like the usual boring sort...."

CR Boss : "I think its cute..."

ME : "Traumatised,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,," :o

Below is the tank on 18 May.....

tank is a 12mm normal glass, dimension : 14" X 16" X 3.5' the sump is together as an overflow sump. I did not do the sump below the tank, dislike all the extra pipings...

I must say bro Mc Queen crystal glass makes my tank looks dark, but when i gone home, i realise the black silicon and foam base, and reflective thick glass makes the tank internal looks darker than normal, if compare to a white silicon thinner glass and white styrofoam base..

Nice white color cabinet tank!

CR = CoralReef Aquarium (Tank Maker)

I think his sump is inside the display tank itself at the end;

Just to let water flow thru media and maybe a skimmer then pump out the water;

like a nano sumpless tank.

Cheers!

(-_-) Happy will do ... (o_o)

tank viewable are : W360 X H410 X L1080mm,

Sump : W360 X H410 X L300mm

Dont do the same as me, alot of calculations is required with regards to the sump area ability to store water and the evaporation rate at (i last check was 1.14litre/day) due to the long rectangle large surface area, my previous 2 feet cube was only around 800ml/day.

You guys may want to use white silicon to reduce on the general effect. I dont think will change for another 5years since the warrnaty is 10yrs, i was afraid of the algae marks so i use black silicon.

most importantly wife says :"NO WIRING ALLOW ON CEILING!!!"

RBTA : No it is not from iwarna

Nice design; I am thinking about the same design for my nano tank. Visiting CR soon!

I always have the feeling that black silicon is stronger than white (is all in my head); not sure true or not.

Anyway, will your chiller having heat problem in the cabinet?

Chiller needs to draw in air and expel hot air, yes?

Yeah, you may need to have auto top-up for peace of mind.

Cheers!

Can you guys share what you use to clean your tank glass with?

Barely a week, small diatoms patch appearing..

For me, I juz cut a small piece of filter wool to wipe the glass surface. Other than that magnet glass cleaner.
