Hi all,

I finally got my chiller the other day.

I realised that the temperature on the chiller and the my main tank has a difference a 1 degrees. The chiller has a higer temperature than my main tank.

Is this normal?

This is a common problem. The chiller thermostat will detect a temperature difference of 1-2degrees or even more if the chiller is not designed well. The internal thermocouple of the chiller is near the compressor and heat exchanger hence the water temperature will be slightly higher.

You will have to calibrate the thermostat with reference from a lab grade mecury thermometer. However there is no real need for this as the thermostat is not built for precise temperature reading and stray electrical charges in the water will affect the thermocouple reading as well.

Take not of your tank's temperature when the chiller kicks off and cuts off. Adjust the chiller to suit the main tank temperature
