SRC Member kaykay Posted May 6, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted May 6, 2012 In the midst of cycling. Day 1 I poured in 90L of bottled water to test for leakage and check plumbing. (ios) Day 2 I added salt. SG 1.022. Day 4 I poured in grade 3 sand. Unwashed, cheap sand. This is when I see cloudiness. So I thought, never mind, give it a day or 2, it'll clear up. Day 6 I added 8kgs of live rocks bought from farm. Then added a market prawn after scaping. Today (day 7), the cloudiness got worse. I can see very fine particles in the water. Is this added cloudiness from the decomposing prawn? Do I turn on the skimmer now? (or skimmer should start from when?) Will skimming remove this cloudiness? Note: I only have a piece of filter wool as filtration now.
SRC Member solasido Posted May 6, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted May 6, 2012 Bro, you can buy water clearing solution from LFS. I bought Seachem brand from aquamarine (clear water), if not wrong it coats around 2 red notes.

FuEl
It's Clear from FAF. Give 24 hours confirm clear. Too bad it works too well, no stock left everywhere. New stock should be arriving in a week. One 6oz bottle can treat up to 4000 gallons. SRC Member kaykay Posted May 6, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 6, 2012 Thanks for the various solutions. Let me do some shopping in the next couple of days. BTW, should I run the skimmer during cycling?
SRC Member kaykay Posted May 7, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 7, 2012 Hur hur.. The water cleared up today, all by itself. Guessed it only needed the extra time for the dust to settle. Anyways, will be taking in the suggestions of water clarifiers to achieve crystal clear viewing conditions when the tank is up and running. Thanks everyone.
