zico
Anyone here uses biopellets and/or PO4 FR together with a refugium of chaetos / macro algae. If I have the FRs, would it mean that its very likely that my chaetos / macroalgaes will not grow (and die off)? Thanks in advance for all your inputs. Thanks. SRC Member jxlex Posted April 30, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted April 30, 2012 Dun see why not if nutrient levels are really that well controlled with the bio pellets and fr, the only thing you have to lose us your macro algae... Anchorman
Hi folks, Just to share my thought, the bio pellet FR can route back directly to the DT instead of flow back to the sump or refugium. SRC Member starfish123 Posted May 1, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted May 1, 2012 don't think you should use them together. Btw po4 remover and biopellets should not be put in the same reactor as it would be quite difficult to change the po4 removing media without taking out the biopellets
zico
Looks like I will skip on buying the F R since I already have a refugium. Maybe revisit using bio pellets and rowaphos in an F R if I can't hold the nitrate and po4 low enough. Or, maybe I could get a F R but under-dose with biopellets so that my chaeto survives and get a zero nitrate environment? Does that sound unwise? mjck
Just some thoughts to share... I am running a ATS with great algae growth. Previously tried some cheato in the sump, but it didn't work out. Guess the nutrients no enough and the cheatos start dying and breaks up into little pieces. Mess up the sump so bad that I have to fully empty my sump to clean it up. Make sure you contain the cheato if you are planning too try it out.
