can MH be replace by others?

as above i understand that MH :D is a very strong light and makes the tank very bright it is very gd but costly. :nc:

my main ques is that if there is a cheaper bulb <_< or tube light that gives out a very strong and bright light is it posible to use?

btw wat lights are those in t95 show tank? <_<

But MH is the only option for intense light of the appropriate colour temperature for use on the reef. Halogen lamps are less efficient than MH and are too yellow. Perhaps the alternative is a whole battery of T5 but they will still produce substantial amount of heat if that many is used.

Very old 150W MH with PL blue lights if I am not wrong.

i thought of having those lights in my new tank ask my uncle who works in a lighting shop says that MH bulb actually not so expensive leh due to buy from LFS they raise the price!!! he say his shop also got something like t95 lighting same bright also white in colour

Metal halide has always been used as industrial and architectural lighting. I've always prefer to purchase bulbs and ballasts from lighting specialist than LFS. I used to organise bulb bulk orders but with local prices being more competitive I don't think it's necessary anymore.

okie i will try to look for other option and experiment wif other lighting trying to find cheaper lighting wif the same quality as MH thanks for the info tanzy if there is any further improvment will let u know will consult my uncle tomolo!!!

6500K and below bulbs are very cheap due to the fact that they are used for lighting buildings or roads. Iwasaki are considered branded in terms of industrial lighting as their bulbs are relatively more expensive than other brands.

You should know by now .. anything made for aquarium would be many times more expensive than their industrial counterpart even if they are exactly the same thing. This applies to water addictives, mh, carbons, ion exchange resins .. etc
