SRC Member tropic Posted April 18, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted April 18, 2012 I am using my 1/2 hp chiller with an external thermostat. It normally takes around 3hrs to bring down from 27.5 to 26deg. Just over the last two days I noticed the chiller seems to be running much longer (5-6hrs)and doesn't drop below 26.5deg. Anyone face similar problems before?
Gouldian
Hi bro, Past couple of days is hot like crazy thus its maybe because your salient temperature is high thus takes longer. If this is not the problem, you may want to: Check that the chiller is well ventilated Check the fins are clean and not covered with dust Feel the air coming out from the back of your coil, if its is warm = OK, if it is not so warm = time to call your chiller tech Hope that helps. Gouldian
Have you clean up the chiller front and back portion? It could be the filter at the front is dirty or the heat exchange fins at the back is dirty. You can vacuum both area to see whether if its helps.
