SRC Member ryz Posted January 17, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 17, 2004 agreed. but phytos are like the vegetables we eat. we still need rice and meat. we can grow just on vegetables. Look at vegetarians. But IMO zooplankton and other meaty foods will provide better food sourc. Of course enriching them with the essential fatty acids amino acids and minerals would be essential for coral health too. So its a matter of maintaining a balanced environment where everything is healthy. For feeding my corals, I would first stuff my cleaner shrimp till its so full tiill it won't bother my corals. Then I would off my powerhead and leave the food near the mouth for some timem till the coral detects the food and consumes it. Achilles Tang
Softies... you don't have to feed them. Most LPS... they don't really need feeding, esp. the Euphylia family....gonios etc. Brains, bubbles... occasional only with meaty food like fish meat or prawn meat, mysis. Sun corals... require regular feedings daily.... high maintenance corals!
SRC Member ryz Posted January 17, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 17, 2004 Indeed corals of the genus euphyllia need little or no feeding. But ever since I started target feeding them, I have seen a marked increase in the rate of their growth and better looking polyps too IMO.. Plerogyrians(?) I am not sure. But I think it might be good to try target feeding them. If they eat then good if they don't then nvm. Quote Live and Let Live
