Seachem Cupramine - Copper application?

Recommended Posts

Hi All Seniors, I would like your advise as it is important. I am using the above for quarantine tank -60Litre. The bottle indicate to put 16drops for 40litres for a start and 0.5mg/litre after 48hours.

I apply 24drops for the start and after 48hours, i got lost!! if i take 0.5X60litres = 30mg. Is 30mg equal to 30ml? This looks like too much as i tried that and my fish die!! I understand it is better to quarantine for 30 days but with this second dosing of copper, what should be the frequently of water change within the 30 days??

Please advice

No way u are going to put 30ml to a 60L tank. Fish confirm will die. If I recall correctly, 1ml is estimated about 17drops. I suggest for a start u put about 25-30 drops for ur 60L tank and monitor fish behaviour carefully. U are advise to measure with copper test kit. Be prepare a water change with ur main tank water if that adds on more stress to the fish.

Tank 4x2x2.5

For water, 1 drop is approximately 17 to 25ml depending on many external factors such as viscosity, density, temperature and humidity.

However, as a general rule of thumb, most agrees with The Marine Aquarium Reference (1992), in the appendix it states 20 large drops or 25 small drops approximately equals to 1ml.

For potent medications such as Copper is its best to get as accurate as possible if not, to be slightly under dosage just to be safe.

Hope that helps.

I did 24 drop for 60 liter and after 48 hours change 20% of water and topup another 8 drop but still 1 died! Should I change water? Cannot don't change water for 30 days. I did have salifert copper test but always within 0.1 ppm.
