Would like to share above idea... Very simple project and ease your mind when you out from home for 1 or 2 days away from yr tank. Air aeration during a black out or power outage only and Charging when power on.

Being trying on DC battery operate air pump and DC Pump.

Below r the piece parts used.

1. DC battery operate air pump

2. 1x variable resistor (4.7k ohm)

3. Automatic Emergency Light (need to dis-solder one point for Air pump/DC pump)

DC operate Air pump (modify to external power)

Automatic Emergency Light system (modify to one output for other usage)

Go fishing need light? can employ below idea too... :)

That is a very good idea actually, while fishing we usually need both lights and air :)

here some questions .....

1) Can you show the connections in the DC pump? I assume the wire is soldered to the motor's lead?

2) Where did you solder the resistor? What output is the Automatic Emergency Light giving out?

3) Lastly, where did you get it and how much does it cost?

And thanks :)

You can either solder or using connector. Just deSolder/Cut off the battery lead from DC Air pump don't touch anything on motor lead.

2) Where did you solder the resistor? What output is the Automatic Emergency Light giving out?

Same thing to resistor you can either using solder or using connector. If not intend to use variable resistor you can calculate the step down by using Kirchhoff's Laws/Voltage divider theorem. The output has to be match your DC pump input.

3) Lastly, where did you get it and how much does it cost?

I got it from my hometown, you can get from any hardware shop here, pretty common stuff, Shld be less than SGD50 if DIY?

And thanks :)
