I have just bought a weipro 2011 skimemr from sugi(fellow reefer) and I am using a 2000l/h powerhead for it. It state that pump capacity should be 1200l/h. Will extra flow make the skimmer inefficient? The bubbles are very fine, much finer than my air stone powered skimmer, but not very many bubbles. How to increase amount of bubbles? Attach air pump to the air duct? hahah

and about filtration media, I am gonna use filter wool and coral chips as my only biological media for nitrifying bacteria to colonize. Is this advisable? Or should I just get ceramic rings or sintered glass instead? Cuz my sump so big need to buy a lot of ceramic rings/sintered glass which will cost a lot. Will coral chips do as well? What do you ppl use as filtartion media in your sumps?

consider bio balls. they have vast surface areas for bacteria to grow. and also u might want to get coarse filther material. usually blackish brown in colour. Ehiem's one is blue. they are very good for cultivaitng bacteria growth on them.

I'm using SIntered glass(very good biological filtration media extremely large surface area enhanced with elements to encourage healthy and massive bacterial growth) by sera but it's damn expensive! Is that what you are talking about? Sintered glass? I heard many bad stuff about bioballs leh. Nitrate buildup etc. to use bioballs need trickle system right? if not will get nitrate buildup? Has anybody or IS anybody using coral chips as their sole biological filtartion media? how is it going for you?

Get some sintered glass lah. damn good. or the seachem product I was talking about also seems not bad. I feel bioballs not much surface area compared to others(which has larger surface area to volume ratio tha it). And also heard so much stuff abt bioballs. So I'm apprehensive. Is canister filter's flow rate very slow? like trickle? if not then I dunv think it's suited also leh.
