firefish diappeared overnight

Last nite i noticed that my firefish diappeared. Didnt come out of its hole during feeding time and also not found in usual hiding place.

My wife actually saw a crab with a shell size of 5 cent coin and hairy legs. Could the disappearance of the fish caused by the crab?

Thinking of trapping the crab by using small glass bottle n putting food inside..workable? Any advise pl

eaten by other crusteceans. i hv similar experiences. lost about 5 to 8 different kind of gobies in 2 mths. that's why i dun keep gobiess...... at least for now. damn those crabs!!!!

Hi ! Is it a new fire-fish ? Maybe it is still adjusting to new environment if new....wait for another day or so. Try to tempt it with mysis shrimps...see if it comes out. If not....hmm.....hope not man !

Use the "essense of chicken bottle"....put a prawn bait overnight....chances of trapping that hairy crab is very...see details under the thread under "Crab Terminator".

firefish not new and used to see it every now n then, but last nite didnt appear.

Words of encouragement...I tried 3 nights, caught 2 crabs per night using one to two bottles per night. I think my tank is free from crabs liao....hmmm....I think cost I couldn't find any during my search ..He..he...

i notice that my goby used to borrow in the sand and under LR. didn't come-out for 1 whole day. then, this early morning, he appeared and eating some dried worm i place inside the tank.

mainconcern tonite is to catch that big crab b4 it vitimize my Blue Tang as it always like to sleep inbetween rocks

Hey this happened to me too but for my case it turned out that my fish jumped outta my tank and actually dried up behind my tank.. So do check arould your tank and behind it.. firefish are known to be good jumpers..

Agreed with blacknails.....firefish tends to jump out of tank, I personally lost 2 due to that. Did you (nic a Jon) add in any new fish that are bigger than the firefish lately? Firefish are shy and stress easily when they see bigger fish in the tank.
