Placement of chiller

Hi, I was thinking of placing my chiller this way.

The chiller pump will be at the first compartment of the sump,

drawing water into the chiller. The chiller output will be at the

last compartment of the sump (where the return pump is).

I was thinking that this method == to sump->chiller->tank method.

Anyone sees any pitfall in this method???

Cheers

I'm using that method now and i think most of us too. Some of them will have the outflow from the chiller straight into the main tank

2ft cube with 2.5 sump

400w MH with 6 x 24w blue T5

Hydor wavemaker controller

Aquatronica controller

Daikin compressor with double coil

RM CR

H&S out sump skimmer

This is only a good way if you do not have a refugrium/macro alage in the middle and the water drawn from the first compartment has gone through pre filtering. As if water in the last stage has gone through the refugrium, there bound to be some dirt, sand which over time will clod yp the chiller. Unless after the refugurium/macro alage there is another prefilter. Or in the case of eheim pump, just attach the sponge in the pump to filter out the unwanted stuff <_<

But this do prevent inaccurate reading if both place at the same stage. eg, drawn from last stage and return to last stage.

:D:D I'll trying to see if I can cut some cost here by using this

placement.

1) do not need a powerful pump to pump water to tank.

2) Do not need to drill extra hole in the main tank for the water

from chiller.

I do not yet have a sump ... maybe bro hotsoup can post a pic of

his sump :P

Cheers
