Realised some of my frags turning green or brown despite my dd nitrates and phosphate test kit testing to be zero. Dunno wats wrong. And it only occurs on small frags or colonies.

Got some issues with my montis over-encrusting and spreading on my rockscape. Juz wondering what do the rest of u guys do, scrape it off or able to frag off the rocks which seem quite difficult as it's only a thin layer of crust on the LR.Posted ImagePosted Image

Another thing I realised on my red monti is the white spots that looked like bite marks but so far I haven't spot any aefw when I check on my montis at nite.Posted Image

Hopefully it's not aefw or any unwanted pests.

Most of the cyano in my tank is gone after I started dosing FM marine bakto blend. But still have some red hair algae on some of my rocks most notably on my zoas rock. And it's has prevent my zoas from opening and growing. Will probably get some cuc that eats them to get rid of these nuisance algae.Posted Image

My tank almost full now and can only house one last small colony of sps and here it is. A teal green acro, not too sure of its id though.

Posted Image

And last but not least a fts after many mths.Posted Image

Thanks for reading.

Ya, guess there's nothing much I can do here except maintaining gd husbandry and hope that the colors will return.
AEFW don't eat montis, might be monti-eating nudis!
Thanks for clarifying, bro.

I beg to differ.

Definitely not a melanurus as they have striped body as opposed to a network of green and pink in this.

Try Halichoeres argus. This should be it:)

Thks bros for the id. Definitely looked more like Argus wrasse than Melanurus wrasse. But there r also some sites that id it as melanurus but most id it as H. Argus. Even I was told it was a melanurus at the shop. But the most important thing is, can it get rid of monti eating nudis? Will be monitoring.

The genus Halichoeres contains a variety of "melanurus" look-alike(some of which I also cannot really id).

This popular genus also contains many popular and well-known pest-busters such as Halichoeres leucoxanthus. Whether or not nudi-eating I cannot assure, but it would be good to monitor and give it a shot I suppose. As in the wild, these fellows are not obligate nudi eaters and its only in the aquaria that aquarists document them as effective nudi-eaters.

No matter what, I hope it will for you and wish you all the best!

The argus wrasse rip after a few wks so it didn't really perform its task. But anyway, I have concluded there's no nudis as til now I haven't seen any. The red monti also kinda recovering slowly on its own. I guessing its could be burnt marks from intense lighting.8e6eqyny.jpg

Anyway its CNY eve, time for me to do a quick update. Some of my sps colonies still having stn issues. I guessing it could be due to not sufficient light shining to its base. Any experts can advise?

Gotten some new corals, all some pics...

Long time never update. Nothing much have changed except I had added a flame angel and an open brain coral. zu6ujemu.jpg

hu7ypuse.jpg

The flame angel have a little ich on it but so far its healing and feeding very well. But I also realised after its introduction some of my sps, mainly montis and digi have not been opening well, no pe at all during daytime. But so far I have not seen it nipping on my corals except on the German blue digis. Still monitoring the situation.

Another thing I noticed is my rabn have become very thin in branches and tips always have dirt and algae covered with little or no pe. As it grew and started branching out, it became thinner and thinner. Anyone experienced this before and can advises on this? Thanks.

i love the shape and scaping of your tank! Very nice!

Not too sure about why your BN is thinning out though. For mine, normally having dirt or algae on them

is a good indication of a

lack of flow around it.

Thanks for your advice, bro. I have tried tuning the flow of my tank higher but doesn't seem to work. Leaving it as it is now. Realised the "radioactive-ness" became less luminous than before. Signs of bleaching??? Love the reef-scaping of your tank too. Hope to guai and view your tank some day.

Yup i agree. Best not to fix it if it isn't broken...or too broken. Haha. Common mistake i made previously is getting too reactive when i sense something very minor amiss. Corsls are hardier than what most people think. Keep the updates coming...and u are most welcome to come my place anytime too.

Wah bro very nice. you change scaping already ah? Look so different from my memory lol.
Thanks for the compliment, bro. Some corals died so added some new ones so might looked different from last time. Some sps also grew bigger so the scape also changed due to the growth.

I read in someone's thread recently, the lost of luminous polyps and tips covered by algae and dirt is due to too high flow and not low flow. That reefer relocated his rabn and became ok after that. I hv relocated it slightly inside left, hope it helps. Thanks for your advice again, bro.
