For 2.5 feet hight really problem at least to me. (One of reason I decom my previous tank) It quite difficult to reach tank bed. And you also need very strong light (Mh or high end LED) if you need to keep coral at bottom of the tank.

Tank Spec :

Display tank : 48" x 24" x 18."'(H)

Sump tank : 25" x 23" x 18"(H)

Return pump : Reef Octopus 8000

Wave Maker : Vortech MP10Wes

Lighting : DIY LED (Cree led) 60 bulb

Chiller : helia 55hs

Skimmer : BM Curve 7

Controller : Reef Angel

i agree. aside from which, ratio of oxygen supply in tank is lower (area of water surface for oxygen exchange against volume of water). Not saying it's bad but it could be better if your water surface area is bigger.

i would go for a deeper tank, 4 x 2.5 x 2(h) as i find light and oxygen issues are easily resolved and ease of maintaining/reaching in.... mostly, rockscaping is alot nicer with deeper/wider tanks (not to mention that fishes usually swim horizontally rather than up and down) my two cents.
