seems like directly purchasing from them instead of local reseller is much cheaper via vpost, according to my calculations. And we can save on GST by consolidating orders (1 order for controller, another order for modules) as the most expensive part should still be less than SGD$400. Very interested to get a unit, but local dealer pricing is not really as attractive. BO? Haha

I am looking at 256kb as I am doing some crazy temperature, water level, pump flow, light/weather (to simulate real storms with differing drops in temperatures, water level, water flow, rain from rainbars and lighting)

any overseas purchasing expert? need help to calculate exact amount

local reef plus package $1k, some stuffs not inside package frm USA website. the items tat u need to buy frm USA website are Ph sensor(USD109), wifi module(USD109), salinity module(USD149), 2channel dosing pump (USD109).

reef controller 256k (USD269/289).

So if buying online all the items total up USD289+109+109+149+109= $945 at xchange rate 1.26. If include gst would be slightly above $1k. So it seems the same. plus u got local support.

Bro, the controller comes with 1ph sensor. (-109) The unit is 32kb (-50). I don't think vpost shipping is $159?Assuming paypal exchange of 1.33, is it cheaper? Vpost can always do consolidated shipping to bypass gst as long as each order is below sgd $400 with shipping. I think they are charging a little too high. I have checked with Phillipines distributor. A 256k controller (local's upgraded basic set) is only usd356 (15000 peso). Dhl shippng to singapore is 50.

MY initial calculation is total USD750. minus Ph sensor n take 32k memory will be 750-109-50= USD591. If rate 1.33 then S$786. bloody gst would be $55, total $841. Shipping by vpost by weight n size of parcel. reef angel never state weight of the controller n individual items. but controller n switching module should be heaviest. but I think total weight will not exceed 8kg. So if worst case shipping is S$100, then total would be S$941. Estimated saving seems to be dependent on shipping price. if local sell higher then make more sense to buy online.

if want to avoid paying gst, it seems need to split into 2 to 3 shipment. but these shipping cost will must be less than the gst$55. Else no pt.

According to vpost example, using consolidated shipping can skip gst and need to only pay for base charge once

I've tried getting some parts on reef angel n trying out checking out n filling the zip code given by vpost. So reef angel shipping cost is $20.95 for USD501 worth of items. So total up USD521.

I also filled up the estimated shipping cost by stating a 50cm cube box with 4kg weight. base charge is S$13.40, shipping at $180, fuel charge at $47.50. gst at $59.

Why worried? Be it hydrometer, Refractometer or conductivity meter, all will fail if not calibrated

This is the impression I got when I read from the forum. I understand things get old liao will got problem. but I read liao machiam they just got the stuff then got program issue need go and download eagle files, wifi not working properly. salinity always low. So dun know if the Wi-Fi module, salinity module is the hardware problem or the head unit problem or cable problem. I might be spending more time isolating which module is having the problem. and to do the isolation tests, u might need spare modules n cables to swap to test out. Of cos I wan to buy the product n everything goes smoothly as I like the products. It's just tat when I read the forum n it doesn't powers me to part with my $, not cheap. Maybe the sponsor should demo a unit in your tank and show the stability. :)

The probes are of lower quality than other controllers. If you really want good probes, profulix has pretty good probes.

There's always a danger to use ato via conductivity. Digital readings do spike due to interference. That's why you rarely see ato using conductivity readings. Most ato uses float switch, optical sensor or heat sensor, all which are analog.

Reef angel would be useful for using conductivity as a backup to make sure that the refilling doesn't not cause salinity to drop too much. Primary trigger will still be a float switch.

If you really want to do ato by conductivity, i would suggest using lab conductivity probe. A decent probe costs 700+

Profilux has pretty good conductivity probe...but their conductivity probe is also the most expensive probe in their range....almost $300 for it...but is one system can handle all your needs...it is a worthwhile investment....in my humble opinion...there r many senior members using profilux here...maybe they can enlighten us
