Hailea Chiller - HC 150A (1/10hp) is good for my tank?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am new to this reefing. Any guru here can advise me on this chiller i intend to get Hailea Chiller - HC 150A (1/10hp) is this sufficent for my tank? Size of tank is 2ftL x 1.5ftW x 2ftD. Mine should be 220L only. i went to check on the website, http://www.hailea.com/e-hailea/product1/HC-150A.htm they stated water refrigerated is 50L-400L. But a shop told me that HC-300A is better for my tank. I do not want to get oversized and over budget too althought the difference price is $100. Space is also quiet limited. If not my wife will start nagging again that i am taking too much space for this reef. :I

I use to run the 150a in my 22x18x22. It took around 45mins to cool down 1deg to 26.5. Now running a teco tr10 and it takes around 20mins to do that. I think the 150a can support your tank but it may not be efficient compared to the higher hp one. You may spend more on electrical $ in the long run if you use the 150a.
