Seachem Denitrator

I read that denitrators require careful tuning to ensure its efficiency. It also requires a constant source of "fuel" for the bacteria.

I am a lazy bump, so I just went straight for a DSB. But I recall a few of the forumers here have/had use this product to good effectiveness.

Seachem De*nitrate doesn't work. Tried it many times. Waste of money.

Yeah agree with Tanzy. Used it before with no noticeable effects. Expensive lesson for a newbie then.

That products is basically a media which is manufactured supposedly with an anaerobic core. I still find it hard to believe that oxygen could disappear within a few micro-millimetres when one compares it to a DSB which is so much thicker.

Probably it does, but I think one would need a very very large volume to rival a DSB. Imagine the price!

DSB, sump, and LR are for natural denitrator. moreover its for long term running. so why this expensive equipment which needs fine tuning and feeding food to the bacteria? kinda good for starting if u success tuning it but long term, bad idea. the tuning also will have to retune again and again, not good and not user friendly

err. which one? all? blame on my always impatience when writing something.

good denitrator needs tuning the pump flow rate. best 1 drop per second. and feeding food to the bacteria in order for them to stay alive. if I didnt remember wrong over flow rate may cause hydrogen peroxide but skimmer can skim that out. but less flow rate will cause something else. I cant remember that. pls check out www for infos befre u buy that.

Hydrogen sulfide, not peroxide.

I think it's the way you speak english that i can't understand what you're saying... its ok. I think I get what you're trying to say.

Anyway, this thread is not about the use of denitrators... its about a Seachem product called De*nitrate actually! ;)
