picassos are a variant of perculas while snowflakes are from Amphiprion ocellaris family.

wasnt too happy with my previous scape and felt the right side too 'heavy' and rocky.. so decided to do some adjustments and shift some sps too.

found this very nice rock where i can create my zoas garden. but the stand wasnt very even and definitely wasnt sturdy enough on its own. will topple easily due to the heavy weight on top and narrow base.

but it looks good..

so decided to do a little modification in order to create a bigger base.

DIY project.

in order to create a bigger base and cover the top part so i can put more zoas, i decided that customise rockwork is the only way.

step 1

get a plastic container and pour sand. create a flat base

step 2

put the rock in and cover the base with concrete and marine sand mix.

step 3

brush to create a rough surface. coralline algae will grow easier. the top part is a hole where i will not be able to place anything. so i chose to cover it up to glue zoas frags or place zoas rock in future.

step 4

sun for 3 days

step 5

the painful curing process - 2 months minimum...

been curing for 2 weeks plus.. took the rock for a quick dip in main tank to take pics of final effects.

haha.. what did you think we were doing when i asked you for the recipe for mixing cement? initially planned to have different colour of zoas on each rock petal but my zoas collection is growing. guess this is going to be a rojak zoas garden in random colours.

in case you want to make frag plugs again, i still have balance cement and sand.

The little indentation on the skeleton is soooo perfectly spaced for little zoas frags to start with and my imagination runs wild as i forsee all the twinkle twinkle little star all over it !!!

some simple upgrade.. was doing some minor renovation to my house and added cabinets to my house. got the guys to do some upgrade for me to include soft closing cabinet doors for my fish tank. haha.

just added a set of 4 tubes T5 ATI sunpower to my existing 3xradion.

feels that i'm not able to hold on to dark purple colours.. sps like purple valida lightens to a pastel colour.

but red holds on very well instead.

to test out the radion efficiency, i put some sps that was turning brown or stn. the colours actually revived and radion brought back the colours.

only time will tell...

a customized pc of acrylic sheet to fit the 3 radions together. this way, each radion height, height and distance is uniform. no need to adjust string by string. so troublesome and time consuming.
