I am using Seachem Matrix carbon for 2 months already....must remove ?

I read from the bottle that it is good for 6 months and I intend to change it every 3 months

In actual practice... most reef tanks would have enough dissolved organics to saturate the carbon within the first 2 weeks, rendering it useless... keeping it for 6 months will see the carbon turn into a biological filter!

on the instructions of the Polyfilter it states to change filter when colour changes... so I guess if it turns dark brown or even black, you gotta change it...

so it is to say the correct way of using a carbon is only using it for 2 to 3 weeks then throw it away then add in new carbon again ? can someone give more details ? thanks

ash maybe u can read the details on the container of the carbon u bought some of them have longer life span

yah .. i am using chemipure and it is stated a lifespand of 4 to 6months but as AT have said the carbon is not so effective after the first 2 weeks ? so replace it ? or leave it ?
