DSB in Sump

Hi all,

Need some advice from experts regarding setting up DSB in my sump.

1) What is the sand size that is more suitable to be put in the sump as there will be high water flow?

2) Will the water flow in the sump stir the #1 sand up?

3) Will 6 inches of #1 sand be enough for the DSB in the sump?

Thanks a million.

Regards,

#1 sand is not very fine. it is like coarse sugar and the water flow in your sump should not be able to disturb it. But to play safe, just add another partition to allow you to prefilter the water again before reaching the pump lor.

#0 is the fine sand. it like fine sugar or table salt size and can be disturb by high water flow. But will your water flow in your sump be that strong?? <_<

Kenji.

If you want to incorporate a DSB in your sump. Take sure that its in a compartment which is flatbottomed and water does NOT flow thru the sandbed (eg. from the top to bottom or vice versa). Water must only flow above the DSB.
