wat is the avg life span for a reef tank

This can vary from tank to tank, reef to reef. If the tank is built by a reputable tank maker, lasting for 10yrs without leaking is no surprise. But if you talk about the reef itself, it is a totally different ball game. Really depends on individual husbandry.

yes i wud reckon usually abt 5-8 yrs hardware-wise ... my usual reason for changing tanks is not so much as leaking but usually its the glass too many scratches after over 5 yrs of use & for feng shui reasons

Main Tank : 48 inch by 36 inch by 28 inch (2 sides starphire glass)
Sump Tank :
