SRC Member babareef Posted November 29, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted November 29, 2011 Hi Guys. I have a small but delightful headache here. My chaeto refugium is full of copepods. I can see them swimming, some hanging by the chaetos and many more on the glass. In fact they are everywhere. My chaetos are growing fast and I need to harvest them but worry I would kill the pods population. Can anyone advice me on this? Many thanks in advance. Get a pair of mandrain....I'm sure your pods population will be under control...LOL ! Quote Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Hi James, I think you are mistaken. babareef worry about the reduction in the pods numbers after harvesting the chaeto rather than the blooming pods. SRC Member comycus Posted November 30, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted November 30, 2011 some pods would be killed, but since its a refugium it will always be a safe haven for them to breed more. no worries in harvesting some cheato regularly for nutrient export. SRC Member babareef Posted December 1, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted December 1, 2011 Hi James I don't think I want to leave a beautiful fish like mandarin in the refugium. Thanks for the advice though. Ok I will still harvest my chaetos and hopefully with all water parameters remain stable my copepods will breed even more. Thanks for your advice too Comycus.
