i believe i in resolving from the CAUSE of the problem.. hence strong skimming is recommeded to prevent too much ammo & nitrite with reduced bio loads. e.g. after installing my H&S 2001, i can see my sps colouring up ;)

other methods includes, refugium and dsb.

You can add some LR with plants. It can greatly reduce nitrate level but need quite strong light (my tank have 2 - 15 watts tubelight).

....good skimmer will help also.

Nowadays, LFS (like reborn - quite cheap 5dollars only, Aquanature near Eunos MRT - quite ex-8 or 10dollars) have some stock of LR with plants.

Try AZOO no3...

AZ-NO3 can really stress up your fish and coral. IMO only meant for emergency. I used once and some coral didn't open up for days.

Right now I fill up my sump with 15kg LR already, intend to add more. Also to upgrade to a better skimmer too.

I have refugium and macroalgae too, but cyanobacteria keep growing there.

Tank 4x2x2.5

Talking about having algae in main tank... which type is good? Maiden's hair?

I've tried ferns and result is pretty bad.. they went asexual fast and cloud up my whole tank.... from then on never put any already...

Some common ones i've seen in shops are

Ferns.

Maiden's hair

those red bubble long type..

I went to East point and i saw them putting rocks of maiden hair in their small marine tank.. seems like a lot of the tank have them.
