advise on melafix causing skimmer to bubble

Need advise on Melafix.

I dose just 10ml of melafix into my 300L tank and within seconds my skimmer start bubbling like no tomorrow. It this normal?

My tank is under going copper treatment currently.

Should I continue to dose? according to instruction I should dose around 40ml for my tank.

Hi as melafix has clover oil in it which is an organic compound, the reaction from the skimmer is expected.

In fact melafix would have given you these precaution if you read the fine prints i think. I dosed them before, it is advised to switch off the skimmer temporary

The foaming is due to your skimmer trying to remove melafix

remember to handle melafix with care...

wear glove and wash hand after use ... as a precaution

I dose only half the required amount

Turn off the skimmer. It's alright to keep it off for a week while doing the treatment.

After one week do a heavy water change and then turn on skimmer again. It'll still bubble like crazy but will be less intense.

The melafix can take few weeks to wear off if u dun do a water change after a week of treatment.
