It reduces the Nitrate (NO3), therefore it can reduce the water change, also reduces Nitrite (NO2) and Ammonia (NH3/ NH4). It needs less space to settle down as well because it can be set behind of tanks. If you need to clean or change the filter mediums, it is very easy. You just need to open the top lids and take the column out.
