Centropyge potteri

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have success with them?

care to share your experience.

I bought 3. ( not together)

First one died on me on the first day of QT

The 2nd one died 2 days after a freshwater dip

The 3rd one seem to be having difficulty.

Water Parameters in QT:

pH: 8.1

SG: 1.0253

Temp: 26 - 27.2 C

Ammonia - non detectable

Nitrates - non detectable (both using salifret testkit)

Dead Fish shows no visible or obvious signs of breaks in scales/ white spots etc

Have been hearing from the internet it boils down to their collection methods, usually juiced, but it's kinda weird that the other fishes that I acquire from the same shipment like the flame angels and barletts are doing well and last.

:(

Maybe I am doing something wrong? Can someone englighten me?

The last potteri just died this morning. :(

It was eating 2 days ago, but yesterday it stopped eating.

I was advised to acquire stable specimen from hobbyist or LFS which have kept these for at least 3 weeks and are eating.

Anyone has information where I could get them?

Seldom see potteri stays in lfses that long for sales. Only know One person whom kept 2 successful potteri on 2 separate occasions and nothing much done. Source from pasir ris. Getting it feed is already not easy, don't talk abt parasite or disease attack and stressful level. Seems like big and mature tank can do the trick.

Try to introduce this fish as the first residence in your tank, and once it stabilize for a few week and feeding well then slowly you can start to stock up more fish.

If you have alot of live rocks and algae in your tank, the chance of success would also be higher. But still it is one of the hardest angel to keep in captive, which maybe we should leave it in the wild.

Success rate is extremely low. Better leave in the wild for now.

Hope RCT gain interest to try out this species...

Hmmm.. Okay... Wanna see how high's the chance of me keeping my golden. Cos I have a potteri with me... And it's swimming ard since day 1. And its feeding on pellets. However The golden that I just bought seems much more shy and I hardly see it swim ard... :(

Successful case should be ard 6 months. Golden is more shy than potteri. Since u have a good potteri, be patience In adding new fIshes, u don't want new fishes tO affect yr Current stocks
