Hi All,

I currently have a clump of chaeto in my sump's refugium. However, I feel that it's not receiving optimal lighting as the refugium is rather deep. So I did some sketching for my next sump design. Pls. feel free to comment on it.

P.S. I don't need much equipment in the sump as it's just for a FOWLR tank.

Thanks in advance :ThanxSmiley:

Heh heh...just some preliminary thoughts. Chinese saying "Throw bricks to attract jades." :eyebrow:

"filter wool"? Ah, I forget to label the triangular object on the right as filter sock. My bad.

Have a good weekend.

your chaeto will not turn ... add a plate of glass at the overflow glass before to return pump to deflect the flow of water going directly upwards

or u drills hole on the plate above the media basket to create some uplift flow.. but not too much if not the flow will be not enough at the back

Thanks Sunny. I would prefer most of the water to pass thru' the Biohome before reaching the refugium. There is definitely more room for improvement from current design. I'll keep working on it. Thanks again.

Add a row of sleeves (sitting on top) of the last pcs of partition to prevent any loss cheato from flowing into the return pump area. Alternatively have another compartment to slot in the coarse filter sponge to do the job. Just before the return pump area.
