SRC Member Tanzy Posted January 18, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted January 18, 2003 1) Pretty simple, if it is DSB you are after, then just dump #1 sand into the tank or if your sump is of a good size, into the sump. Fill to between 4-8 inches, 6 inches being about right. 2) DSB takes about a year or two to fully mature. You'll find that your nitrate level will slowly drop to zero, algae will grow less and the general health of your tank improves. 3) No maintenance required unless sand clumps(usually systems with ca reactor) then need to be broken up a bit.
