If I remembered correctly..

Gem tang is the most expensive tang.

Gem tang and Conspic angel also command a few K..

But i have never seen a 10inch TANG before!! Maybe that's explains the price tag.

Many fishes costs thousands. Just check out LADD, there are a few examples on sale at current.

hahaha.........ya........I think Gem Tang is very nice.........I prefer Gem Tang than Black Tang but nebe see Conspic Angel before..........

The fish is in the tank at Sentosa Cove bungalow...........my fren says it is imported........but I think to him is peanuts........

I took a ruler to measure.......dam........the black tang is bigger than my face!!!..........

If one polyp of Zoa can cost $80, i don't see why a black Tang cannot command $2000. After all, it is expensive fish and that a lot of effort must have been put into raising it to such a size.

U raise an arowana junior at 2k , and after 10 -20 years , adult size of full grown full color, u dun expect to sell at 2k right.. Over the years raising.. I Agee ..

Please don't interpret my comment negatively. I am genuinely curious to see such a rare specimen. The largest Black Tang I've seen with my own eyes so far was the one in Iwarna's saltwater pond (I wonder if it is still there). It's probably 6-7 inches.

May be it is the same specimen having grown in captivity.

HDB flat also can sell for $250k COV liow. If i am a businessman that likes fengshui and marine, i might buy 8 yellow and one black Tang to bring wealth. Heehheeee.

my friend... it's all abt "Demand & Supply" and also "Willing Seller, Willing Buyer". Anyway Black Tang, Gem Tang and some other fishes such as Clarion Angelfish, Peppermint Angelfish are like the "Arowana" of Marine hobby. In the Freshwater hobby, ppl pay thousands for an Arowana or even a Diamond Ray ete.

it's unlikely that the black tang was grown in captivity to that size.

a 10inch black tang is hitting almost full grown size in the wild and fishes that are kept in captivity generally do not attain their max sized. that being said, it's not impossible and it has to be grown in an extremely huge tank and environment to replicate the wild.

black tangs also sometimes are shipped in at huge sizes like 7 inch and 6 inch. so a 10 inch black tang is not impossible too.
