Do I need to match my return pump to my Protein Skimmer

Hi, i am getting a pump and a skimmer for my new tank. My concern is do i need to match Litre/hour of the return pump to the protein skimmer?

Nope. Your skimmer should have its own pump. No relationship to your return pump.

Better to have as close as possible the flow rate of the return pump and the skimmer pump. Reason being, a too high flow rate for return pump, the lower flow rate skimmer would result in lesser water being treated by the skimmer and the rest of the un-treated water that pass the skimmer ends up feeding the algae in the main tank.
