Anyone has this problem too as per the topic. Dottyback chasing my purple goby all around the tank. Btw, my tank has only 2 fish as i am just stocking up. Now with this problematic dottyback is there anyway solve it. Will adding more fish stop the aggression?

Thanks!

Bi-colour dottybacks are well-known for their high aggresiveness. Please do proper research next time BEFORE buying any livestock. Avoid impulsive buys as it can come back to haunt you.

So only way is to remove it?

Unless the dottyback is the last fish that you put in after stock up.

But then as iskay said, they are notorious for their aggressiveness..

There is still chance that they will disturb the other inhibitants once they settled down, unless all other fishes are much larger than the dottyback.

Unless you have a very big tank, giving it up for adoption is your best option.

If I'm not mistaken, yours is a 3-footer. Yet, it still chase your goby.

As long there is enough rocks and space to hide, i guess the goby should be ok. When adding next fish, you need to ensure the fish is much bigger than the bicolor bottyback.

So it depends on what fish you are adding next. Another thing is ensure the goby well fed is also important so that the goby can survive.

Are the goby smaller than the dotty back?

It will go around to look for the goby then chase it, take a rest and cycle continues. Alreay put up for adoption in the WTG section.

Same size as the dottyback. Goby too nice, so let the dottyback bully.

I used to have a purple goby that is twice the size of the bi-color dottyback and the same problem as yours.

End up goby RIP..

Another way which i used for my tangs when i introduce new tang is to put mirror around the tank.

Small 2inch square mirrors around the tank. :)

Think I will move the dottyback out Of the tank.

Good choice. Those little buggers will bully peaceful fishes much bigger than them. Furthermore, they are relentless. Another alternative is to house it singly in a pico where there's nothing for it to bully. They are quite attractive cheaper versions of royal gramma.

Any idea how much each royal gramma cost?

i have exactly same problem as yours. my wrong move is i put the goby as my last fish so now the dottyback pesters him. very difficult to catch the dottyback so i ended up moving the goby to my sump. i like the dottyback very much! the way it goes inside/out the LRs.

A devil that I cannot handle. So no choice givE it up. The order got not diff, goby in first or last also will get bully as it is not aggressive enough. My goby is old resident also become the victim...haizz!
