Thaumoctopus mimicus, the Mimic Octopus, may be the most astonishing marine invertebrate yet discovered.

Using changes of body posture, shape, and coloration, it can very rapidly transform itself to resemble an amazing number of other animals, obviously a tool it uses to startle and deter would-be predators.
