There are probably no visual identification means of differentiating a male from a female. They are born sexually immature, no defined gender. In most cases when a pair is formed, the female is the larger of the two.

Couldn't agree more that those turbo snails are a great benefit to any reef tank When I bought over cured liverocks from a reefer who had algae all over the rocks, my 4 turbo snails practically cleared most of the algae in less than one week!
