  1. Thks for the info! btw 1 more question! Hw abt the cycloneeze...? I've ordered the DT and cycloneeze from eaquanature & shd be getting it tis cming sat! So need some advise before feeding my coral! I had read sm thread abt soaking the food in garlic guard b4 feeding! So after soaking, juz pour the whole food in or need to remove any excess garlic guard from the food? Will it be easier to maybe drip a drop of garlic guard directly into the tank?
  2. When adding plankton into the tank, do we need to off the pump? Since the DT plankton is alive, if it's stuck in the wool in the filter, will it die & cause problem to the water chemistry. Sorry if this is a stupid question but there is still alot I need to learn from expert out there!
  3. Won't tat mean tat we r topping up the nitrate and phosphate in the tank? I assume those mature tank can affort tat but hw abt small tank or those tank without DSB or etc..? Juz curious cos still thinking whether to get a tap water filter or not!
  4. Does just addiing those conditioner like seachem prime to your tap water be gd enough to use it as a top up? I did sm reading from the internet that state either DI/ RO water is recommended to be use as top up! Pls comment!!!
  5. I got a 150W spot light from carrerfour at $19.90. Ten go an buy a arcadia 10K 150W bulb to replace it!
  6. Me oso using prime! So you all juz dose the tap water with those anti-chloramine agent? Won't it increase the nitrate and phosphate level if juz top up with tap water??? Paiseh...still learning all this chemistry stuff, so need advise from Lau Chi*o out there! Those support staff from seachem told me that even if you overdose yr thank with prime (less than 5 times the dosage), it won't cause any impact 2 yr marine/ reef tank! However, they said that although prime helps to detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, it actually binds with all of the nitrate until it can be consumed by your biological filtration and eventually (after biological processes) turn the nitrate you bound into nitrogen gas. Dun kw hw true is that!!!
  7. I think I saw it last weekend at Pasir Ris Farmway 2 (Blk D). I heard from the owner that due to hari raya, the stock will came in late! Probably Tuesday which is yesterday!
  8. Not very sure if this help but I saw sm LFS using normal spot light (those big out-door spot light) but have the bulb chg which is sutiable for marine/ reef! If I'm not wrong, those out-door spot light range from $20 to $100 and you need to replace the lamp with those that is meant for marine/ reef tank like Arcadia!
  9. Not sure whether is it becos of my LR, seachem denitrator or algone that do the trick! I got high nitrate level during initial setup, bcos I was transfering from 1 tank 2 another, didn't went through the nitrogen cycle at all! When I introduce denitrator, algone and more LR, the nitrate level came down after a week!
  10. Isn't it that even if it's exhausted, it will still act as a biological filter? I thought it is quite unlikely that it will get exhausted if well maintain!!! Juz a thought!!!
  11. Yap! It's quite easy to tell whether the bubble coral is a SPS or LPS! However, there is so many coral ard! So, since I'm not sure abt which type of category my coral belongs to, is it better to feed them with both DT and cyclopzee???
  12. Instead of using grade 0 or 1 coral sand for the DSB, possible to use seachem denitator or matrix to act as DSB?
  13. Err.... Hw to differentiate SPS & LPS??? Paiseh, may be stupid to ask this but I really dun kw!
  14. So it is not advisable to grow it inside the tank itself? Btw, wht's the diff between DT & Cyclone Eeze? I have no idea wht shd I use 2 feed my coral and on wht freq or qty!!!
  15. Can anyone advise whether is it a must or recommended to have those blue light on during the night time after 8hrs of daylight??? I notice from sm of the pics that most pple actually leave the LR in the sump which have plants grown on it! Wht's the diff between placing in the sump and inside the tank? Is the requirement of those plants similar to fresh water plants (require CO2 during daylight)? Thks in adv!
  16. Looks familiar!!! Maybe saw it in one of the LFS! But can't tell whether it is white gravel or glass?!
  17. Do u hv any spare for sale? I oni looking 4 1kg cos mine is a mini tank!
  18. U mean that the nitrate may increase overnite even if I tested the level is 0ppm initially?
  19. Yap! I'm using mineral water to carry out the test and have chk the nitrate prior and after mixing the salt water! Indicate 0ppm! I'm confused too! If coral sand doesn't give out nitrate, then is it possible for a fresh patch of coral sand to break down the ammonia & nitrite overnite using the method that I had mentioned earlier which may be the reason why the nitrate level rise? Kindly advise!
  20. I understand that it can even take up to a year for the DSB to work! But my concern is whether is coral sand an ideal media for creating a DBS since it will give out nitrate rapidly? Or is there any other forms of media for creating a DSB?
  21. I'm a newbies and I will like to seek advise from on whether will the introduction of coral sand increase the nitrate level in the tank? I notice that the nitrate level in my tank increase tremendously! I did a little experiment by using a fresh mix salt water which I had tested to contain 0ppm nitrate. I add in a small portion of coral sand into the fresh mix salt water and let it soak for a day. When I test the nitrate level of the water again, the nitrate level raise up to >12.5ppm! If coral sand increase nitrate level, then how come some pple still use it as a filter media? I know that it will help to stablize the alkalinity of the tank, but won't this pose a great threat to the inhabitants in the tank?
