  1. ^ u can remove water from the tank, use the chance to siphon out any collected debris or detritus..
  2. yupps, u need to read up, which could mean burning midnight oils to do research.. and angelfishlover is right that not all info can be followed.. just have to learn from other ppl's experiences as well.. dun learn it the hard way.. (i did, before i found out abt this website).. read up and be fully prepared before u plunge into this endless hole.. most fish farms sell prepared seawater in packets, u can get ur water from there.. i gotten mine this way, and never had any problems so far.. it should suffice for a basic soft corals, lps, or fish-only tank.. \ cheers, and welcome..
  3. comes from my very own mushroom garden.. sorry if my hp camera can't really capture the colours.. can't afford digital camera.. in white, and in actinics..
  4. first up, something 'ang ang' (red red) to kick start the New Year!
  5. Hi all reefers, finally had the courage to post up some pics of my humble newbie tank.. it's a 2ft x 1ft x 1ft, using very budget system and only been stable for abt 7-8 mths now.. so im still very 'green' into reefing and hope to learn more from all the pros here.. cheers to all..
  6. well, if u buy water from the farms, it would be alot cheaper.. and cycling faster as well.. not say perfect water parameters.. but at least it's safe.. and convenient..
  7. well, if u're just starting up a new tank, you would need the basic Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate, and pH.. to monitor whether ur water is done cycling.. if u plan to put corals, subsequently lots of test kits would be needed, like calcium, kH, etc etc..
  8. ML has flame wrasse and some royal grammas, sexy shrimps.. theres a paired up royal gramma there too..
  9. hi, due to upgrade, currently looking for 1) a 4 ft sump tank, prefer it to be tall.. 2) 4ft iron stand, bottom compartment at least 3ft tall.. 3) HnS 150 or Beckette AOS3 4) a 2ft cube tank preferably with stand, for freshwater use. if u have any for sale, kindly inform me. cheers to all, happy new year.. vincent
  10. to be safe, always use overflow system to connect them.. this might include drilling holes.. just my 2cents, coz my (2ft) and my dad's (4ft) gonna be using a combined sump.. never try to use 2 power heads to pump water to & fro.. u'll never get both to be equal strength.. and if 1 fails u, u have a flood.. just my 2cents.. cheers..
  11. hi all, gonna do some upgrade soon, will be having a 4x2x2, and a 2x2x2, using a combined system and sharing a sump.. total tank volume estimated to be abt 135 gallons.. it'll be a reef + fish.. will appreciate if anyone could name me which model of which skimmer is good enough to support.. currently looking at beckette.. good websites regarding the brands of skimmers is also appreciated.. thanks..
  12. i am no pro.. but changing water weekly does help to keep ur parameters in check.. and patience will bring ur ammonia and nitrite down, let it finish cycling maybe at least 1 month onwards.. how long has it been cycled by the way.. yupps denitrater should help in nitrates, i've never had one b4.. i think its not necessary at this stage.. my opinion.. might help if u give some info on ur tank setup, equip., livestocks u plan to have.. and duration of setup..
  13. i dun think so bro.. ammonia and nitrite must be zero.. nitrate less than 20.. that's for basic livestocks, not including corals.. pH too high (8.8) can be brought down by changing water lor, as for now im not sure of any other methods.. would be interested to find out as well.. cheers bro, be patient and wait a while longer..
  14. i had a bad experience with clowns hosting mushrooms.. it host until my red mushroom colony start to move away, like splitting the red sea..
