sump arrangement seems fine. u might want to do a test on your no3 and po4. if reading are high, that may be the cause for brown algaes

Want to sell the following skimmer. There is a slight leak from the pump therefore this skimmer has to be installed insump. very powerful skimmer for 4 ft. able to help me keep my NO3 0 although I have so many fishes. brand new is retail at 1200, selling at $450. skimmer is still running in my tank. interested party can come over to view the performance.viewing will be at pasir ris.

filter floss can just use 1 or 2 layer, dirty just change new one. get rid of the coral chip or media ring. they trapped dirt. are u running on some kind of med? your water seem very yellow. run rowa or biopellet will help to reduce your po4. water change with di water only. dont use tapwater as it will worsen the algea prob. get some clean up crew like turbo snails to eat the algea on the rocks clean your skimmer cup more often.

any update for your french? i just notice that u actually overdose the copper for your tank. cupramine should be 1ml for 40L of water for first dose. u dosed 40ml of copper which means u are dosing for 1600L of water. this could be the reason your french got pretty stressed up.

For a tank for fish only, seachem copper is the best i tried, followed by hypo treatment. for hypo treatment, some fishes cant take it so beware. i lost my lineatus and mystery during hypo treatment. not sure what happen, both started to lost their balance after 1 week of hypo treatment. rest of the wrasse and tangs unaffected.

standby copper and copper testkit, and also prazi. for angels, without treating them before u put them in main tank, u will regret big time. 1.5ft QT is pretty small for angel but then if u getting those smaller than 3" it should still be ok. if u going for adult size angel, confirm not big enough. sequence of angel will depend on their size also. add from smallest to biggest. queen and king will have to be the last 2 to go in. if possible get 2 or 3 more powerful wavemaker. it will help your angels

personally, i tried both, i prefer the ben. 3 in 1 is good as in save space on power plug but if i cant on a single bulb, once on mean all 3 turn on. the ben timer i can choose which one i want to turn on first. for example during weekends if i am free in the morning, i will override my timer and on the blue light to look at my fishes first. i wont be able to do that with the 3 way.

what kind of lighting u using? using di or tap water? my sk2 is sitting in the 2nd compartment too, my skim mate is dark green colour. do u have any filter for your 1st compartment? every tank uses different set up, that y most of us go for custom made tank. i will suggest u to list down at least your tank perimeters. pic of your sump tank will be helpful to see what went wrong

mp10 is for nano size. 12mm thick tank should be 3 ft n above. 3 ft usually go for mp40.

for kaykay method, u can go as close to the water level as possible. this will allow lesser vol of water to return to sump.

one way valve is like what the name state, one way only. meaning water can flow thur from return pump to DT but not from DT to sump. Please read up more instead of posting stuff u dont even know. no offence.

18 cube seems too small to house 2 tangs. that could be one of the reason for high no3. tangs shit too much. lol
