lots of marine shops
Seawater replied to 19percula's topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
There is one with quite impressive show tank . The shop is An_ Le_ at blk 114 Ave 4. They use German products like Deltec, Schrun, Aquabee, etc. Should say one of the better one around. -
Can T5 be a good substitude for MH? Those show tanks at lfs seem to be doing rather well wi only T5?
-
I saw Re*bor* and other lfs using just T5 only to light up their show tank and all the corals, clams, etc were fully open. Is T5 sufficient for main lighting? Its also much cooler. Is Deltec T5 any good? Thanks.

What type of clams are those? Are there bright blue or green ones? Thanks. -
Salt water density is higher than fresh water and with addition LR sandbed it would be better to have thicker glass.

How many of you use chillers for your reef tanks?
Seawater replied to Achilles Tang's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Since chiller is an essential piece of equipment for reef keeping, maybe AT can work out with some suppliers for a bulk purchase for those are interested. A win-win situation for all. -
Any1 has sighting of clams at any lfs? Those blue ones especially. Thks.
-
Bought exactly the same as u. Would like to know how you plan to put them on your tank as I am still struck with no proper fixtures to hold them.
-
Had a 8mm 3x1.5x1.5 tank. When I put in a powerhead wi 2000 l/hr I feel uneasy. Will the circulation cause the glass or silicon to give way? Since it is no more static force but dynamic force.

Bought a 150w mh de 10k from Victron to try out. Unfortunately it does not fit into exiting fixture. Anyone knows where or who I can purchase a fixture from to hold the mh. The fixtures should allow the unit to sit on the eurobrace and kept about 6 to 8 inches from the water. Any advise would be apprecited. Tks.

We need some form of cooling for our tank and MH for some, is there a way to convert the energy from MH to produce the cooling effect for the water? Read sometime ago there was this company that convert heat from cooling tower to heat up hot water in hotels and save them Millions in power bills. Its just logical. One produce heat and one required heat. Can it be done the other way like our tanks?

How do you experts balance the draining to the sump and return flow with high flow-rate pumps? I have my 3 ft main tank overflow when using Ehiem 2400 l/h pump. Heard a standpipe helps but cant seem to achieve that. Care to advise?
-
I am using Ehiem 1200 l/h but I am finding the flow rate a little low for my 3 ft tank. However I borrow and try the 2400 l/h Ehiem pump and the main tank overflow because the draining to the sump cannot cope up. Wonder how the experts here would overcome such imbalance. I am using the 1/2 inch tank adaptor and standpipe and that seem to be the bottleneck.

There is a Marine tank in an eating house at Toa Payoh mrt station on the gound lever near the escalator. Guess is about 3' cube with fish and some coral.

Sorry, maybe the subject should be Marine Tanks rather than just reef. Yes it should be CHIJMES. Never been there just heard about it. Never been to Turf City also just saw the ad. This link is where a huge tank is setup in Singapore. http://www.ongradio.com/install1%202.htm

Just to add: Turf City Seafood CHIJMAS Tommy Goh 's home

Any1 like to share where are the public reefs tank open for viewing n which will u consider the best. I can think of the following: - Underwater World at Sentosa (not free though) - Wisma Atrium - Changi Airport - AT 's tank (permission needed for viewing)? lol - Heard GIC have some great tanks which cost a bomb? - NKF (don't know where)
-
Just to check does any1 find rashes on the skim when come in contact with tank water, rock, dead fish, etc. n what do u do tp prevent it.
-
It also depends on where the tank is located. If it is in the middle of the room then obviously the floor is weaker. If it is along the wall where the beam is situated then load bearing will be higher.

Hi, how do you ensure that the Durso pipe can cope with flow rate of the pump? A friend of mine who have an Eheim 2200 l/h find that the 1" pvc piping reduce to 1/2" bulkhead cannot cope. Any idea how to rectify that? -
Hi Phang, where did u get the beckett from? Care to share? Thank.
-
HI Robe, Where do u get the beckett and what size pump do u need? Care to share? Thanks.
-
Hi Aquarists, I notice that in the morning most of the fishes seem to have ick or velvet but it subside as the day gets older. It could be due to discharge from somewhere. Does any1 have a more precise explanation and how to avoid it?

A friend of mine is also looking at this model. How about making bulk order for this forum group if you can get special price.
