  1. Apollo 18 Trailer 2011 HD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA2pPv4T2YE
  2. Hi, Mike, Any more pics @ diff angle and Zoom? Looks interesting... Cheers...
  3. Spotted some @ Henry place on Tuesday.. But not sure feeding? U can call Henry to find up.. Cheers...
  4. Ya, Tangs normally dun consume them... You may try some cleaning crew like hair algae eating urchin.. Yr pics looks like either Derbesia or Bryopsis... Anyway, both are presently being considered cyanobacteria that contain chlorophyll. Beside what Lemon suggested.. U may try :- - Increase the Skimmer efficiency. - Manually Siphon out the mat, since it is bacteria, avoid it spread and infected other area. - Increase water flow @ infected area. - Cyano prefer red spectrum. U may try actinic for few days for monitoring.. - Try any possible way to reduce unwanted nutrient (PO4,NO3 etc). - Some may recommend u using antibiotic, try to avoid if possible, cause it potentially bring negative effect to system biological system. - Try avoid Carbon application for the moment until yr algae issue resolve.. Hope above helps... Cheers....
  5. Fyi, Madpetz selling too, 1 Gallon packing.. http://www.madpetz.com.sg/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=49&zenid=ko92jd9o308cikifm90bfjs411 ok, if your refugium is 18" cube mean ~25.24Gallon. So, if your desire Muds depth is 1". You should get ~1.4Gallon by calculation. I believe One pack shld be sufficient u can mix with some Aragonite or Coral Chips... For your case 18" cube, 1 gallon is around 0.7" depth. Cheers...
  6. Cheers.. Ya, you r right to place LR there.. can try add more on other compartment.. Top up with salt water?? Just worry your salinity going up and up.. Need to take note and be careful.. because the evaporation mostly water and the remaining salt contain in tank versus water ratio become higher. If you plan uses it as QT/acclimatise tank... than need to make sure the condition similar as main tank and the water flow is sufficient. LS (Live Sand) at Sump bottom? I think is not advisable as the flow rate @ that area is too strong , the loose sand escape once a while will seized your return pump in long run... LS, miracle muds or DSB (Deep Sand Bed) try in refugium with algae.. Another good ECO filter system.. Cheers & Happy Reefing...
  7. Hi, In general I found Rudie H Kuiter & Helmut Debelius books are interesting... For Tangs family you can try this book: Surgeonfishes, Rabbitfishes & their relatives Beside above, they do have Angelfishes, Basslets, Wrasses, Seahorse, inverts, Nudis etc.. specialize books.. For various fishes ID.. I like Dr. Burgess's Atlas of Marine Aquarium Fishes Guide For reefs(corals & fishhes) I suggested below: Aquarium - Reef Secrets by A.J. Nielsen & S.A. Fossa For reefs(corals only), you may try this one.... Aquarium Corals : Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History by Eric H. Borneman & The Reef Aquarium, Volume 1,2 & 3 by J. Charles Delbeek and Julian Sprung And for the reef natural instinct explanation & Why? & How?.. u can try below... very interesting.... Still a lot good books on reef topic.... Cheers & Happy Reefing...
  8. RD still have some small YT's also some new gadget in store.. Tunze Wavecontroller 7092 http://reefbuilders.com/2010/05/12/tunze-wavecontroller-7092/ Tunze Silence pumps http://www.tunze.com/fileadmin/gebrauchsanleitungen/x1073.0288.pdf Cheers & Happy Reefing...
  9. I think CF has... may be check with auntie before visit.. Cheers
  10. Ya, once the pecking order established sld be fine.. but Sometime, sacrifices may happen if weaker dun give way.... Cheers..
  11. I got 3 x fire shrimp, 1 x Peppermint shrimp & 2 x purple coral banded in Main tank & 2 x skunk shrimp in Holding tank (jail) . They well define their territory area. Skunk shrimp r more problematic also more on active side.. Try segregate them and monitor again... Cheers...
  12. Below r some extracted from book "The REEF Aquarium by PHIL HUNT" Using a Sump To use macroalgae for filtration, the tank water needs to be circulated through a sump that is equipped with lighting and has a substrate to which the algae can attach. The lighting can be kept on 24 hours a day or can be set up so that it is on when the main tank lighting is off. The latter method is known as reverse daylight photosynthesis (Reverse photoperiod). Because photosynthesising algae produce oxygen and consume carbon dioxide, both methods keep oxygen and PH levels high 24 hours a day. Avoiding the drop in both that typically occurs at night in the reef aquarium. The macroalgae used for filtration generally do not require very intense light and one or two standard fluorescent tubes over the sump will provide enough illumination. Beside that, you may adding more LiveRock... Oxygen levels in the water are high at the surface of the rock, and this area holds a large population of nitrifying bacteria. As part of the nitrifying process, these bacteria deplete much of the oxygen from the water as it flows over them, but deeper within the rock denitrifying bacteria thrive in this deoxygenated water and reduce the nitrate to nitrogen gas, live rock can thus act as complete biological filter, converting ammonia to nitrate, and nitrate to nitrogen gas. So either you manage them in your sump or refugium. Depends your setup....
  13. The left one is it your refugium? What's consisting? what is the photoperiod/lighting time? Flow rate? Very envy your sump space... Cheers...
  14. Skunk Cleaner shrimps r omnivorou & scavenger, they consume both plants, animals & waste. Also they r usually feed on parasites and dead tissue. Therefore, they r good for cleaning parasites off the body of the host. They cant clean white spot. But I found they can help to relief yr fishes especially Tang when they need cleaning. You may try Fire Shrimp as well.. Good parasites eater and less attitude issue. Actually Peppermint do some cleaning job as well... For fishes, I like neon goby... May be stop stocking livestock for the moment until yr tank stable.. Cheers.
  15. Some reference from WWM but not detail enough just pics. U can get books by Helmut & Rudie. They have more same species fishes from diff places and also depth of sea. Basically clown tang from Seychelles Indian Ocean species quite close similar to Indo Bali. I agree they could be similar shape in other nation. Like human, we can find Chinese in USA and Indian in China. But in general I believe the main population distribution. Just a rough guide to me... Sometime, I see until my eye blur... note* there is some more variation from diff places.... Cheers...
  16. Oops, mind to share yr Sump pics? Will explain to u more later.. Cheers..
  17. Pharmacy @ NTUC selling ~$3+. Cheers...
  18. Haha, communication error.. yes off-cause from container but dosing pump methods right? Cause syringe methods normally food injected/sucked into syringe directly..
  19. Ya, u can do that. Some fishes like wrasses, basslet I dun QT but straightaway in Holding tank after acclimatise but we need to bear the risk of disease spread via water. And take note fish might jump out from betta box, so precaution must take place.... Dark? no harm to fish.. but how u train your fish feeding?.. My sump 24hour light and Holding tank follow main tank photo period. Do you have LR/Chaeto in yr sump/refugium? U shld add some light at least reverse photo period versus your main tank. Cheers..
  20. food content can be freeze? not understand? I kept my own blend reef food in freezer. So far so good.. I think here we r talking about chilling the food to maintain freshness. Not sub cold environment. It is your question?
  21. I think Terry mean circulation via dosing pump? new syringe at $0.80 - $1.20 at pharmacy? how many ml syringe? I am using 50ml. If u able to get $0.80 for 50ml here let me know ya. Others size I found not practical... Thanks in advance..
  22. Ya, for above we need frequent maintenance. Otherwise, the debris build up may result drop in performance and damage your deflector gear as well.. for example a tiny sand seizes between two gear or chaeto's from your return pump trap into it. Cheers..
  23. Ocean Current.. Reborn used to carry this 6-7years ago.. but not sure now? I found this quite good product.. Let me know if u found any place selling.... http://www.ocean-currents.com/products.html The Rotator creates a pressure wave with a 360 degree rotation of water from the power head. SUGGESTIONS FOR USE: * Mount under the hood for a rotating discharge across the top of the tank. * Use the stand to move the rotating discharge to various heights in the tank. * Use the fan-shaped nozzle to spread a rotating flow vertically in the tank. * Mount horizontally with the fan nozzle to rotate top to bottom. The Rotating Pulser creates a pressure wave by pulsing a flat fan-shaped stream of water combined with a 100 degree sweeping discharge of water from the power head. SUGGESTIONS FOR USE: * Mount under the hood for a flat pulsing wave action across the top of the tank. Add an extension to the rotating outlet and sweep across the bottom of the tank. * Mount on the bottom of the tank to pulse on the bottom and sweep across the top. * Use the adjustment ring accessory to modify the flow of the flat stream. Use various nozzles to modify the flow from the rotating outlet. * Mount horizontally to pulse wave action across the back of coral and remove the nozzle to pulse a straight stream across the side of the tank. * Use a stand to mount in the center of the tank and pulse in one direction while sweeping across in another. The Pulser creates a pressure wave by pulsing a flat fan-shaped stream of water from the power head. SUGGESTIONS FOR USE: * Mount under the hood for a flat pulsing wave action across the top of the tank. * Use a stand to move the flat pulsing wave action to various heights in the tank. * Use the adjustment ring accessory to modify the flow as desired. * Mount horizontally to pulse wave action across the back of coral.
  24. Yes, they r quite hot behind.. As Terry pointed as well, need to place them beside or behind the tank... I will shot some pics tonight how my dosing unit placement., I place beside my tank with rack.. Cheers.. I think yr fridges shld work well just ensure your feed capacity and equipment able to fit in. But electricity $$$ quite steep.. Cheers..
  25. Can try below single channel dosing pump plus mini thermal-electric freezer.. Suggested spell the expectation in detail, such project price can vary from few hundred to few K. depend yr expectation. so that, avoid misunderstanding in future. Cheers..
