I mean when u reply Lanthanum Chloride on Goodbye PO4 post. and I need to clarify I am not sure what is the active ingredient inside. Why no way to export? Skimmer and many others reactor/waste isolator device in the market can help the job done. Cheers.

Some useful info on Lanthanum Chloride liquid po4 remover http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1333212&highlight=lanthanum+chloride From this thread a statement made by Randy: "I'm not a fan of lanthanum for several reasons. The first is that I do not know whether the elevated levels of lanthanum that may result in the tank water are totally benign for every organism we keep It may be, but it may not be. My bigger concern is that the lanthanum phosphate is not actually removed from the system. Perhaps some is skimmed out, but I expect a lot of it just piles up on the bottom of the tank. It may become available through various processes (like passing through the gut of a sea cucumber), so I would prefer to see it actually exported. I have the same concern with dosing soluble iron to bind phosphate vs using GFO to bind phosphate (which is exported). All that said, it may be a fine way to go. Much to my dismay, since it competes with my products (Renagel and Renvela; sevelamer hydrochloride and carbonate), lanthanum carbonate is used in people to bind phosphate from the GI tract." Lanthanum chloride or lanthanum carboxylate for orthophosphate removal in seawater aquarium - a feasibility study YING ZHANG; KAR SONG WONG http://aalso.org/2009presentations/ZhangWongOrthophosphateRemovalPaper.pdf From the last article: "Conclusion Although all lanthanum compound tested can remove PO4 3- from seawater, the efficiency of removal depends on the pore size of filters. Lanthanum compound could pass through filters and increase turbidity inside pool. Barry and Meehan (2000) have found lanthanum can cause significant mortality to Daphnia due to cloggin g filtration. Small lanthanum particles passed into pool could also potentially be trapped by gill lamellae of fish. Therefore, application of lanthanum compound to an aquarium has to managed very carefully and better to be conducted in a side loop equipped with high efficient filters to avoid any potential adverse impact on aquatic organisms due to leakage of lanthanum compound to the pool."

CFOh replied to s0n1c87's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I suggested not T-off return to other skimmer or reactor. The effect won't equivalent split.. May be T-off to other tank still ok... Cheers.. -
