CFOh replied to Eniram's topic in General Reefkeeping_
try red bamboo.. sure they love... you can get from farm for 1 to 3 purple notes per rock... I feed my tang with this occasionally.. Cheers -
How many times do you feed your fishes daily?
CFOh replied to pokmingsheng's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
they r scavengers.. they eat detritus, left-over food and dead corpse. -
Looks good.. natural sea water ~420mg/l. but do you swirl you solution when drip 1ml ca3? if yes then is ok.. Probably check your KH as well.. if both suggested positive result.. then is good. Cheers

Hi, it is just the normal way reading syringe.. tip facing up and record down the reading.. also avoid from solution dripped... Just note now the reading on "black part of the piston" which your test outcome turn to clear blue from pink red. for instance pic illustrated below" 0.1ml remain on the 1ml syringe. add into your ppm ca formula ppm ca = (1 - 0.1) x 500 ppm ca = (0.9) x 500 ppm ca = 450 if your step one using 1ml instead of 2ml.. Then you need multiple by 2 ppm Ca = (1 - reading in step 6) x 500 x 2 Cheers

oh.. ic.. yap.. normally, I clean the nozzle b4 cap on.. to prevent excess glue oxidation.. Lets see what is the outcome.. Cheers

for boxer shrimp try Yellow coral banded shrimp (steponus cyanoscelis) or blue/purple coral banded shrimp (Steponus tenuirostris). I found normal type regular coral banded shrimp (Steponus Hispidus) or Gold coral banded shrimp (Steponus zanzibaricus) a bit too aggressive and territory. The first 2 photos below are Yellow and Blue coral band.. The last pic is normal Steponus Hispidus boxer shrimp.. And the size can be significant bigger the yellow and blue one... for Yellow watchman goby are supper hardy fish.. should be ok.. but they always hide... dun worry.. but patient.. start with 2 fishes first.. increase bioload too much is not healthy during tank cycle..... Cheers

around 2 red note + one green note... Cheers

I have one black mithrax crab similar size as your one >2" body only... this fella really trouble maker and pretty smart.. like to move rock and scrubbing coralline, super active during night time... And it is fast grower.. Mine also hide in big replica... About Sally crab, eye witness once at AM Jalan Kayu.. this fella keep attack one blue eye anthias... I believe that fish could be in nausea mode... But this telling us the Crab nature.. But I know some reefer keeping them without issue, I believe the tank size and space does matter...in fact, it is good hair algae eater... Cheers

Hi, here is some info extract from "Practical Fishkeeping Issue 12 Dec 2008"... But personally, heard from many reefers and friend "Kole tang" is the best for glass algae and hair algae on rock... Also can consider "Chevron Tang" as well.. Cheers -
Ya, you need Market Prawn decay to generate the ammonia. Until Ammonia (NH3) and Nitrite (NO2) reach almost undetectable.. As below GIF illustration:

Thanks Nuj, Nice to meet u... Hi All Caulerpa Collected..Mod Thread closed pls... Thanks Cheers and Happy Reefing...

it is another type of green algae under Chlorophyta division, Should be "Codium reediae". in General, it should be safe, although people claim most green algae will turn Asexual reproduction might contaminate our water quality... But I having some "Caulerpa serrulata" for many years.. grow and trim.. So far, no problem for me... But makesure, trim them when overgrowth.. to prevent overtake your corals or Asexual event.. But I believe Tangs fishes might interested in "Codium reediae".. rather than "Caulerpa serrulata"... Cheers and Happy reefing....

When planning Plant cultivation or DSB (Deep Sand bed) in sump a few things I feel critical for long run maintenance.. Normally, suggested in dedicated low flow refugium area depend to your sump design... Analyze the current sump situation, any potential of loose plant or sand escapee from partition to return pump area? It will drop the flow efficiency in long run, worst cases scratch the pump impeller or seizes the pump in long run.. Cheers...

Self collect at my place. Woodland near Civic center. interested please pm me. Cheers & Happy Reefing... CF

2 type of QT required.... 1. new stock (Mine setup a small ~2ft tank with PVCs and tiles link to sump, found is very useful to reduce stress and feeding for new stock, and also transfer to treatment tank easier when needed) 2. Sick Fish (a simple ~2ft white foam boxes + air pump is good enough, I get mine from LCK for free, just act as emergency for copper treatment) Cheers and enjoy your new setup..... Cheers and Happy Reefing...

:)Nice Work... those intend to try.. might need to take note the siphon suction tube length in main tank to prevent scenario when power outage drain water from main tank.. beside archive desire flow rate.... Switch off return pump after installed to simulate power outage condition... poka yoke concept Cheers and enjoy your DIY..
