Take note, as I mention Carbon will potential soften your water. in other words may lower your PH. Also potential absorbing other goodies & Bad. Try get better brand carbon if really want. and monitor your tank parameters closely.. But my opinion it is optional... Water change is the better approach. Just my tot... Cheers..

wetwebmedia always good place for reef info FAQs about Asterina (tiny, white...) Sea Stars, Compatibility/Control Coral Pests and Disease: pests, predators, diseases and conditions
-
Some more info, below from 3reef.com: http://www.3reef.com/forums/inverts/who-said-these-were-harmless-41075.html "...The first picture on this page shows starfish that reproduces at about the size of a dime. This starfish is capable of destroying large colonies of Acropora. If you notice that your Acropora colonies start to turn bright white at the base in a sharp edged pattern you may have an infestation of the starfish. It is important that you remove the coral and search under the base for these starfish. This damage looks different from bleaching because the damage is very localized and it increases each day. This damage can cause bacteria to infect the damaged areas and this can cause the lose of the entire head. Many of the starfish varieties prefer Stylophora and Pocillopora. It is important to watch for white patches at the base of these corals..." "...Several people have argued that these starfish are harmless, but we have yet to find any that will not eat coral polyps. It is our recommendation that if you discover this type of starfish in your reef aquarium that you remove it as soon as possible. We have documented these type of starfish eating small polyp stony corals, Xenia , green stars, and several types of soft leather corals..."

New small maxima I think all reserved for export? only those bigger size for sale? Pls advice? Thanks -
Carbon will potential soften your water unless special treated.. also will not resolve Diatom issue..
-
Haha, at first we think is type of algae from far look... after closely check this thing actually moving... Haha...xmas is coming.... not too sure what is it? But it looks close to Platyhelminthes species.... Ya, Intuitively I feel it should be safe... cause all are only on the rock or coral chips surrounding coral.. looks like cleaning in action... none of them are on the coral...
