  1. Below from STOMP: First alligator spotted in Sembawang, now giant jellyfish seen at Pasir Ris STOMPer Angler was enjoying a stroll along the beach at Pasir Ris when he spotted a giant jellyfish that had washed ashore. Where did it come from, he wondered. Recently, an alligator was spotted by STOMPer noob. The STOMPer claimed it had been spotted at Sembawang Park. Said Angler in his contribution (Apr 26): "Giant jellyfish at Pasir Ris beach? "These pictures were taken at the beach at Pasir Ris Park near Sungei Api Api. "I was walking along the sandy beach when I came across this mysterious giant jellyfish that was washed ashore by the tide. "As the tide retreated, the jellyfish was left behind on the beach. "It is about 2 metres in diameter and it was palpitating in a wavy form. "I am wondering where this giant jellyfish came from. "Can some marine biologist enlighten me?"

  3. Below from STOMP 15-May.. This lucky man caught a pomfret, weighing approximately 3kg, at Marina Bay Sands with his bare hands, before releasing it back into the water. STOMPer maxikat, who witnessed the spectacle, said: "There was a slight commotion at the Marina Bay Sands boardwalk tonight as a man, who only wanted to be known as Mr Chua, scooped a pomfret, estimated to be over 3kg in weight. "The fish was observed to be swimming in a daze just under the surface of the water near the edge of the boardwalk. "Mr Chua caught the fish out of the water with his bare hands, to the surprise and fright of several passers-by. "The spectacle drew a small crowd to the scene. "The fish was gently released back into the pitch dark waters of the Marina Bay water catchment area, to the applause of several onlookers."

This unbelievable reef tank belongs to Stuart Bertram, co-director of D-D, suppliers of specialist saltwater and freshwater aquarium equipment . Bertram’s tank is featured in the June 2011 edition of Practical Fishkeeping. There is not much info out there about this tank, but here is a direct quote from the article: “To see the size of the small polyp stony corals within this tank, and to know that they all emerged from tiny shards, leaves any observer with a sense that something very special has been achieved here.” Enjoy the video.
