Ya, recently I bought 1 pallet (not box which has ard 10-12 pallets) of frozen mysis shrimp that has about 20 cubes (can't remember the exact number of cubes) at LFS at $1.50. Takes time for my fish to eat it, but once onz, they love it. Remember read somewhere that most crustaceans, bs included, has some reddish pigment in their shell that helps in enhancing the colors of the fish. Not sure if this is true. Pls correct me if not.

Benz, thanks for clarification. Sorry Glare, cannot use the skimmer then. Too large for my skimmer compartment in the sump. Will look for those that can be placed outside the sump but pump inside type.

Hi, I need advise for the lighting for SH in refugium. Believe either PL or FL is good enough for purpose of a 2ftx2ft cube refugium and SH. Kindly advise if this is correct understanding ? Is a 2ft PL more effective than a FL ? Also, can anyone points me to where to get healthy SH ? Anyone has too many and looking for SH sugar-daddy (valid for SH only) can PM me too. Glare, I am in process of customising my 5 footer and keen on the skimmer. Can you let me know how much space to house the skimmer. Benze mentioned 9"x15". Is this the fotprint needed inside the cabinet ? I need to know as accurate as possible as I have VERY limited space inside the cabinet. What is the height ? You can PM me the details. Easier for me to check PM than search for this thread.

I am also designing my canopy. Saw a tall canopy (think 18inches!!) in one of lfs. I personally find it too high and dun look nice as they mount the entire box inside the canopy. And with doors in front/side for feeding/access I find it breaking the look of the tank setup. This is reason how I got to point of directly mounting the bulbs and reflectors yet keeping the neat look of the aquarium. Maybe we should exchange pointers/views since we both doing the canopy. Great minds think alike.

Thought about that. But when sketched out the plan and it looked like 3 bats hanging off a branch, straight away kena veto-ed by Minister of Home Affairs. Back to the drawing board to shield the bulbs

Will be using fans to extract the heat inside the canopy. Also saw the different views about blowing at the bulbs. Problem is cannot hang from ceiling and the box is really huge, 2ftx1ft footprint !! Imagine putting 3 boxes over my 5ft tank Thinking of ways to dyi a shield to protect the bulbs. Any ideas/thoughts pls share leh.

Thanks both for quick responses. Well, very much at ease knowing it is safe for both human and LS. Ya, the box is very heavy with all the gears insde. Only worry is if water is sprayed onto the hot bulbs.........

Need advise from reefers : Is the 250W MH bulb by itself UV-protected ? If not all brands, how about brands such as BLV, Weipro....etc ? Reason of asking is that I am thinking of taking out the E40 and 250W MH bulb and mount it directly into my canopy without the usual glass plate that comes with the huge box of a 250W MH light and to reduce weight by separating the control gear. Any advise on human/LS safety will be very helpful.

I will be getting at least 40kg of LRs once my new tank is delivered to me hopefully before Christmas. Then will need LR to start cycling stage. Anyone intending to sell their LR kindly PM me. Can anyone who had recently bought LRs advise me where to get reasonable quality LRs and what is the $/kg now ? Understood different quality, cured/uncured will command different prices. Kindly advise or PM me as I may be looking for 30-40kg of it. Cheers.

Hi, mind I borrow thread to ask a similar question on solid wood for cabinet ? Can 'solid wood' strong enough and lasting to support a 5ft marine tank given the salt water and weight ? Was advised to go for Chennai wood but it is very expensive compared to solid wood.

Looks very small size to support up to 1000 litres of water volume. Can you share what is the footprint of the skimmer ? Seem like out-of-sump type. Keen to get one but space constraint in the cabinet to put big skimmer. Can also share where to get and how much ?
