Any clams there? Thanks. -
How does it works ? Understand that at the centre is a circle that change color according to the ammonia in the water and all yuo have to do is to see the circle color and match it to the color chart at the side ? Correct ? Can anyone advice the corresponding reading to the range of numeric value as if measured by test kits ?

Thanks. Will bear that in mind after operations.

Thanks for advice. Was worried that the soft coral part goes too deep into the skeleton and when sawing, gets head one side, body in the other. Then need magician to put them back. Do I put the separated parts back into main tank under strong or weak currents as they normally give out slime when disturbed ?

Hi, I have a hammer which has a skeleton of about 6 inch long between the top tips of a 'Y'-shaped base skeleton. When open, the tentacles spread over a space of more than 12 inches. Anyone can advise how do I frag (saw the 'Y' skeleton?) into 2 pieces without hurting the coral ? In the first place, should I ? Thanks for advice.

chinmo, your nursery looks more like out of science fiction movie where they clone lives. You group them by batches on date of birth ? You use PVC pipes are partition ? What are tank setup, water parameters and basic requirements for the bb SH nursery, ie, saw some air tubes, etc. ?

Yellow Tang vs Purple Tang - Round One!
Nickel replied to flipper's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
The 3 shared the whole tank. Just like 3 muskeeters. As long as they do not disturb other LS in tank, it will be okay. -
Yellow Tang vs Purple Tang - Round One!
Nickel replied to flipper's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
I have a brown tang, a yellow tang and a purple tang the later slightly bigger than the fromer two, about 2 inch. All three going around the tank clearing all my aglae on the LR/sand happily. You one bite, I one bite and she (?) one bite (of the algae of course). They just keep themselves to the tang family and don't disturb my clowns, gobies and corals. One big happy family. -
cough cough cough.......cough ..ahem....pu. Where shall we .. cough, cough....meet and how often.. cough.....cough.....cough ahem pu.

Have. Go to the electrical department on level 2. Think ard $9 and sometimes comes with a mutli-adapter plug (those square-type allow you to plug in 2 3-pin plugs in parallel).

Disected my timer. Think it is the microswitch inside died. Figured out timers worked om the principles of a microswitch on/off depending on the taps depressed which a lever rocks on activating and controls the microswitch, which in turn controls the 230V mains. Forsenic (electronic) finding : cause of death : died of microswitch failure. Conclusion : Not worth rescuing, just go Carrefour buy $9 type to replace. Dead one keep as spare parts.

Talking about on business opportunity here....yazid just created some. With ah_long.com mushrooming, reefers can resell high quality skimmate for their use. At least they can be more environmental friendly instead of using canister spray paint.

Hi anyone knows if Pasir Ris D open today (Monday) ? -
Ya, know what you mean. I have one that decided best location is between 2 rocks. but can still see it opening and the tentacles swaying in the waves. And it is upright as like a clam. Maybe split personality. I had prepared a 'cave' for one of them and is happy there since day 1. Question for experienced scallop owners : does the frequency/brightness of the electric flashes anything to indicate their health/mood ?
-
Ya normal. They actually propel themselves to a place they are comfortable and extend an 'arm' at their back and anchor themselves there. If condition changes, they will move again.
-
No need pics (actually I dun have a DC), as previous owner of them, you are welcome to see it live in action at my place. I normally update those previous masters of my LS to ensure they knows (if they are interested/responsible owners) their LS are in good hands.
-
Checked the settings. The switch is such that the 'clock' is showing, that means it is in timer mode acording to the taps depressed. Using 1 timer to control one 250W MH only so should not have problem with the current through it.
-
Wa...like that also can compete, but the prize........ I am most happy to pass. Anyhow I not even in running as I keep only limited LS and moderate feedings so skimmate nothing close to those (yacks.. ) in anyone's pics.
-
Hi scarab and reef2, thanks for pointers. Will check it out at dyi shop/lighting shops again. Will try to diagnose the problem tonite by doing a open heart operation on the problematic timers. Likely cause may be due to heat-strokes from the heat of the MH's control gear as they are in same cabinet compartment. But then it is not really that hot as I also have some electronics in there and they are surviving.
-
Sounds same type leh. Maybe I open it up and check inside what happened. I can switch on but it cannot switch off after the set period when all the depressed taps are over the arrow maker. Any specific brand you using ?
-
Hi, I am having some problems with timers used to control MH. Seemed like they burntout due to heat from MH's current/control gear. Won;t switch off after turning on MH when setting period is over. They are rated at 3000 Watts and 13 Amps at 230V. Can anyone using timers advise what to look for or where to get reliable ones ?
