  1. The disadvantage of dip-in type will be unable to place chiller away from the tank. They usually come in a short length only. Also water movement in the sump need to be fast to "capture" or "move" or "attract" the coldness from the coil and deliver to the rest of the water colume.
  2. Tunze will be a better chioce. The Red Sea only start and stop the pump to make wave. Frequent on/off to the pump will the shaft to break very soon. Also the on/off chattering sound will make u mad
  3. rodian, might as well sell the teco. Why must wack till break down??? If you wanna wack, can give me before its gone?
  4. Congrat to your new purchase. You can start planning into keeping a baby polar bear now
  5. I also been thinking of that. I think it would be more effective than just dumping the rowa into the sump flow. Tagging on....
  6. Ya manz...PIC PIC PIC... Just got my ultility bill, got a shock, I use 1500kw+ last month
  7. Actually sitting the chiller on a bracket will be louder as compared to hard flooring hor ... as bracket tend to vibrate and sending more humming sound into the air.
  8. hey bro, it's say 1/2HP for 500L at 15 deg C. You missed the fine print below
  9. Weileong, The diff is actually the refrigerant use. Arctica tower design uses R134a refrigerant while Arctica commercial uses R22 refrigerant. R134a refrigerant is the replacement to R22 refrigerant becoz the later is environmental unfriendly. The size of compressor to drive R134a is bigger as it required higher working pressure as compared to R22 refrigerant. Therefore a 1/3HP R134a refrigerant compressor will consume more power than a 1/2HP R22 refrigerant compressor...
  10. Finally my nightmare is over. Yesterday reach home found the chiller resting, water temp at 27.0 deg C, photoperiod for 6hrs starting from 2pm ... kee..kee Morning with lights all turn off, the chiller kicks in at 27.5 deg C and cool to 27.3 deg C in 15-20mins (not sure cause I bathing )
  11. Hey bro, suggest you consider before getting the 1HP Arctica. From the spec, the exhaust fan is 100watt, its going to blow like your multi-split unit aircon..... You need to install that outside the house liao...
  12. The exhaust fan in the chiller is indeed powerful. Believe can blow right across your living room..h.a.ha.h. The ventilation of this chiller is really good, guess this make it very efficient.
  13. I facing the same problem too, until I got this up last night... Have to run a few days to determine if my problem have be solved.
  14. Thanks for the info.... In order to own a new chiller, the chiller meet a few feature approved by my other half hor... - exterior must be nice - no drilling and breaking of wall - must sit back in the bathroom rack - cannot be too heavy as it need to sit on the rack... See...so many things to factor into my choice of chiller...headache... Alvy, diy chiller is good, but I cannot afford to have wire and piping running all over the house....
  15. Alvy... I will be trying an Arctica chiller.... Hope it live up to its claim....
  16. Chiller SOLD. Thanks for the interests.
  17. nobody interested? Price neg... throw in 2 mths installment plan?
  18. I am selling my current Hailea 1200CB, its a 1.25HP chiller. Been running the chiller since March 2003. Due to the hot spell coming, this chiller is unable to maintain my 1300L of water. It's rated for only 1200L tank. Price will set at $850.
  19. If you just want a temp controller to turn on chiller and external fan, you don't need a IKS system. A normal external temp control branch to a 4 way socket can do this trick.
  20. Yap. The chiller, chiller pump and exhaust fan are controlled by IKS. I set the IKS controller to 27.8, it will start cooling from 27.8 down to 27.5 and cut off. But the hot weather is making the chiller temp hanging at 27.8... until the photoperiod is off ... burning $$$ manz Maybe have to set it to 30.1 and cool to 27.8 for the few month in order to let the chiller rest for a brief moment before burning up the compressor. By the way, any idea can the chiller compressor run non-stop for 14-16hrs with enough air ventilation???
  21. I'm using a Hailea 1.25HP chiller. And it holding the temp at 27.9 with the chiller running non-stop during the 10hrs photoperiod .. In the night, the chiller will be turn on for 30mins every hour to keep the temp at 27.5 until photoperiod again... Dun dare to look at the bill this coming month....
  22. I would like to know the solution too. My temp is creeping up dispite the chiller been running for 5 hrs already
  23. What is that fish heckers posted above???
  24. Just in case some cannot view the file in .tif format. I have convert it to a .jpg for easier viewing .. kee .. kee
