How much time can we "buy" if use an air pump for the interim as suggested?

I received a notice stating there will be no electricity supply to my flat on 1/7/04 between 9am to 5pm due to replacement of meter board. In case the electricity is really stopped for so long (8 hrs), how can the fishes, shrimps and feather duster worms survive? What must/can I do for my tank during the power interruption? My FOWLR tank is with overflow compartment. Return pump is Eheim 1262 consuming 80 watts. Don’t think can run that pump on batteries. The other equipment such as lightings, fans and Eden 228 are not critical. All helpful advises are much appreciated.

I am planning to set up a quarantine tank soon. Have space constraint, so is a 1 ft (about 2.64 gallons) tank adequate? Should I use a hang-on or canister filter? What are the pros & cons? Which types of lights are of 1ft size? FL, PL? How about T5? If no fish to quarantine, may use tank for corals.

Whether condensation will occur inter-depends on a few factors : 1) tank water temperature 2) room temperature 3) room air moisture content So even if one's tank water temperature is very cold, yet factors 2 & 3 are also low, condensation may still not occur.

More losses…1 banggai cardinal, 1 yellowtail damsel, 1 3-stripe damsel. It’s a complete wipeout. Thanks typrobin for the offer… that was nice of you , but don’t think it’s needed anymore. The sea cuke must have climbed up the tank & committed suicide... the power head did not moves it's own position. Sea cuke size was about 2.5” long & 1” dia. Yes, I did place in carbon to alleviate the damage but alas... The spacing between the grilles of the power head’s suction cover is only 2mm wide. How it got sucked in is still a mystery? Unimaginable! What a sad day

tranfering water to new tank

So if we just use tap water and not DI or RO, we need to use chemicals (like anti-chlorine) to remove chlorine, is it so? If don't use anti-chlorine, can we just "age" the water for a few days using powerhead or air pump then use the water? -
Woke up this morning & was preparing to feed my fishes before going to work. Noticed fishes' behaviours were strange. Did a roll call.....black sea cuke MIA. Begin Search & Rescue operation. After 1 minute.....change to Search & Recovery operation.....found it half body lodged at the power head intake, the other half already "diffused into water". Current tally: death : 1 yellow tang (favourite fish), 1 black sea cuke Remaining fishes are not doing very well either.

if u can get hold of a powerhead, aim the output at the base of the anemone. it hates the strong concentrated water output and will dislodge itself from rock soon.

what type of food does flame angle normally eats?

Bought a black sea cucumber 10 days ago and it has been to all over the tank (rocks, glass surface, etc) EXCEPT the sand bed. Tried placing it back onto the sand bed yesterday, it took in some sand but after half an hour, it climbed up the glass surface again. It is now at the water line level again. What could be the reason? Doesn't it get hungry after so many days?

2011 also same...use the outlet throttling valve to adjust the outflow rate. do not follow the waterline sticker on the skimmer...adjust the water level to near the back o-ring at the neck.
-
how do you guy feed the frozen Cyclops? direct feed into water or mix with shrimps? what quantity each time? it looks very tiny...can the fishes see them?
-
you mean...near to the black o-ring? or even higher up?
-

don't quite catch what u mean...what is the actual name of the part u are refering to? or can u show a pic for easy understanding?
-

the skimmer is new. the big bubbles i mentioned are wat i can get within the main mixing chamber ie. after the venturi air intake and swiveling with the water. u mean that has got to do with the "break-in" period also and i will be getting fine bubbles after a while of usage? how long normally that will take? bought it @ $58.
